Rifts of Kythera This is an ongoing West Marches style game with sessions several times a week and multiple DMs. New players and characters are welcome. Ignore the 'Next Game Will Be' date, as this is required by Roll20 and not at all indicative of when we are playing. Our usual times of play revolve around Central European Time (Berlin Time) as we are a EU based group. Our most common time of play has been 7pm (19:00) Berlin Time (CET). Please consider this before applying. This is a “Make Your Own Adventure” server, where the games posted might involve combat, diplomacy, stealth, or even just getting to know the NPCs and building relationships with other factions. We have many different kinds of players and DMs so if there’s a type of gameplay you prefer, someone will likely be willing to join you. You will almost always play with different DMs and players in each of your sessions so you will be interacting with a variety of people from many walks of life. We are an active community of more than 50 people and we like getting to know each other so consider if you are prepared to deal with such a large group and all it entails. When you join Rifts of Kythera (ROK), you are also joining our Discord server where we do all of our coordination. On this server, if accepted, you will see a number of channels with information about the community, ROK, and even other games. People who are accepted into the game are also allowed to join the other games being ran, provided they meet the requirements and it is okay with those running. ROK and all our games are inclusive of everyone, regardless of race, religion, gender, sexuality, nationality, or otherwise. FAQ Is there an age requirement? Yes. You must be 18 or older to play. We're not running any 'adult' themed games, but for the comfort of our members we keep it above that margin. Do I need Discord? Yep. A free account is more than sufficient. Do I need a headset and working mic? Yep. You must use voice on this. Video is not used. We run using the Discord voice servers. Do you allow homebrew things? No, we do not. The DMs might do some customization to monsters and NPCs to keep things interesting, but on the player-side of things, it's a no. How are stats determined? We mainly use the Point Buy Plus system (30 instead of 27 points and all scores start at 8). However, with some limitations, we do allow players to roll for stats by rolling 4d6, dropping the lowest score, and placing them in rolling order from STR to CHA. I am looking for Roleplay/Combat/Exploration focused games, does this fit that? Yes and no. It's player driven. If you want to make sessions that are more about roleplaying and such, you can. If you want to drive sessions towards combat, you can. It's all on the players. Is there an attendance requirement? Nope. You will be asked every three months to indicate if you want to remain on the server. If you fail to respond to that, you will be removed and can then reapply. But you don't ever have to play a single session if you don't want to. How are level differences handled? Player characters that are on different levels may play in sessions together, but it is advised to keep things within a range of about 3 levels. Players make the sessions, so the party composition is up to who signs up. Hey, I'm a DM for games, can I DM? Not immediately, no. We are always happy to have more DMs but we will require you to first familiarize yourself with the game and the community before you will be allowed to step up to the DM plate. How do you feel about Rules Lawyers? They are kicked from the game almost mercilessly. We've had a couple players slip during a session, but if you grind a session down to a halt to argue with the DMs about rules, you will be kicked from the session and most likely the server. THE DMS ARE THE ULTIMATE AUTHORITIES DURING THE GAMES THEY RUN. This includes over the books, the dice, and whatever else. You can talk to the DM or our moderator or whoever you feel comfortable with after the session to sort it out. I'm an Asshole. Is that a problem? Yes. Please don't apply. That goes double for any bigots. Is it okay if I creep on the other members? I mean, it should be taken as flattery, right? No. Not in the least. Harassment and sexual harassment are met with summary bans and possible reporting to relevant authorities and organizations (Such as Roll20 and the Roll20 community as a warning).
