We reached the tomb where the local trouble was centred. It was a large and impressive hall lined with pillars with a huge jackal headed statue sitting on the throne. It didn't take long to find a switch on the back that allowed the statue to move aside revealing a stairway going down into the crypt below. Down in the lower section we were very careful to check for traps and uncovered a few in the passage into the catacomb. The first room we came to had a wraith that hovered wickedly but as if waiting for a prompt.  I saw no reason to engage with this aberration and tried to destroy it with the holy robes. Needless to say, my companions and I made short work of it. The next room was a bigger hall with engraving carved into the sandstone walls. As we started exploring creatures of dust and sand materialised in the room and set to engulf us in their stinging whirlwind. Again we had to fight our way through the enemy though this time I ended up with an abrasive polish. Lea soon discovered a concealed passage leading around the back. We crept forward into the tight passage and found the sarcophagai of the family arranged in their niches. Our stirring must have been noticed though because we were suddenly surrounded by the wrapped Mummies of the dead. I brandished my holy light to banish the undead and one of the three made a break for it. Wrendell faced one off but was punched badly in one shoulder which has a nasty looking wound. While we battled the mummies another strange evil attacked. From out of a corner a strange almost door opened and from out flew a familiar looking crow followed by a bat faced hound with eyes of pure evil. The battle was very close but we skillfully fought to victory.  Once out of the crypt we returned to the central shrine. Further into the tomb is a hall of worship preceded by three anterooms. We went all the way into the worship hall only to find a lone zombie. Wrendell flew into the room to take on the zombie and Lea rushed in behind him setting off another sandstorm trap.  Back in the ante room Nickolai was all bound up in a magic carpet. Eldon tried to cut him out though possibly did more damage to Nickolai than the carpet. I tried to grasp it but couldn't get a solid grip then, from within the carpet itself, a blast of energy bust a hole in the mat and the whole thing fell to the ground with the smouldering Nickolai rolling out. With no further threat we had the chance to rest and investigate the area. Nickolai had discovered an illusory wall and found a treasure room behind it. Coins lay piled on the floor and sitting atop carved pillars were six huge gems in different colours. The sight of that much gold set my cogs spinning and I lurched forward grabbing at the gold coins.  Fossicking through the coins I found a mysterious corked bottle that made me stop and take stock.  Was this an urn? Is this gold of a sacred nature? We are in a tomb after all and this might be considered sacrilegious.  I stopped taking any more coins and stood back up wishing no one had seen me fall prey to such base behavior. I set to working with my tools turning my coins into flattened plates to make small repairs to my outer shell. Wrendell's shoulder is not looking good either. He might have caught some affliction from the mummy claw.
