Using math in a target number

I'm very new to this and I don't get why this won't work properly /roll 1d20-2>@{selected|AC} It keeps doing the "1d20-2" part and then ignoring my attempt to check a target number.

Here is what you want: /roll {1d20+5}>@{target|AC} Use {} to enclose the math portion. Also, you probably need target, not selected.  If you use selected then players cannot use the macro to target any creature they do not control. Assuming you want players to use the macro that is.
