Once a few more bodies went into the pool the fish went into a frenzy of killing. The quippers began jumping out of the water and then suddenly they flew straight at us. My armour was impregnable but Eldon was not so lucky then, with help from Lea and Samba, we defeated them. Further into the cave Wrendall and Nickolai face off against a few more Derro. One carried a cage suspended from a pole and as it got closer I could see that in the cage was a most repellent looking baby. As Wrendell and Nickolai rushed in to attack the loathsome creature made excited baby sounds. Wrendell bashed the derro carrying the baby and they fell to the ground. The baby let out a scream and several more derro rushed forwards from further back. "What the bloody hells are you doin' to that baby?" Nickolai glanced towards the thing in the cage and fell under the sway of its enchantment. Wrendell and I were right up the front bashing the wild derro supported by Strom and Samba firing from the back line. I was putting up a good fight when, for some reason, my main spring uncoiled. I fell to the ground almost lifeless. When I came to, the fight was over and Samba was standing over me trying to restore some tension to my gears. A human girl was found at the back of the cave and claimed to have been kidnapped by the derro. She wants to be rescued. We spent a short time looking around this corner of the cavern and found a magical sword and a shield. These might be more of the prizes we are looking for. Wrendell and Samba were discussing options for the girl when Strom suddenly yelled, "Ahhhg!" From out of the very back cavern came two derro witches. We all made ranged attacks as they ran out but while our attention was taken away the girl turned on us. Her appearance was only an illusion and her horrible natural shade returned as she stepped in and stabbed Strom in the back. Another witch no doubt. They generally come in threes. Their magic was dark and evil but we soon had them overpowered. They begged for their miserable lives but no mercy was given. Just as things couldn't get more twisted, a huge black slime emerged from the very back pool. It didn't take too long to smash it down but it was messy work then, upon searching the pool, we found a magical staff. Another prize maybe. We took another moment to regroup before going any further into the cavern.
