My Loaded Tokens, maps, etc Will not drop onto a new, blank page

Hi all. I just started to experience this. All of my loaded tokens, maps, ect will not drop onto a new blank map page. When I use the free assets or marketplace purchases, those drop fine. I have the paid, basic subscription. So, I would hope it is not a space issue, especially when the free assets ones can be dropped.

Where are you dragging from? The Art Library tab?  If that is the case, are you dragging from the thumbnail image or the name of the image? Only the name is used for dragging to the table.
yes the library and I drag from the name or the image and nothing

Could you show a screenshot of things, including one of you attempting to drag/drop? Might see something.

Sounds familiar to something I'm running into, but it's everything in the top section in the Art Library tab, regardless of if it's uploaded by me or saved from an asset search. Everything below that section, in the Recent Uploads, is fine, but for everything above, I need to do a workaround where I have to do a search for the asset that's already in my library, just to even use the asset. And the Premium Assets tab is fine. It's just the My Library tab and just the top section there.
Did some more testing by using a different browser, same exact issue: can't drag assets from the top section of my Art Library, but everything in the Recent Uploads is fine.

Hi Fanne! It looks like these might have come from web searches, and the google image search library on Roll20 is like, 7 years out of date due to Google API changes. However, that shouldn't affect your ability to place. Just to test, I copied an old web search image to my library, but it was able to place normally. This likely exceeds the ability for users to help. I'd suggest capturing a  Console Log ( Chrome , Firefox ) from the time you try to make this work, and using it for a  Help Center Request . This will create a ticket, and hopefully give the devs enough info to figure out where the process is breaking for you. As a test though, are you using a supported browser (Chrome, Firefox) and have you tried a private/incognito window?

Derrick, are you still having issues?

I can do one with a token that I put in my library myself, anything in the section will not place. And yes, I'm using Chrome. I will try an incognito window momentarily. Edit: Just tested through Incognito, still does not work.

Excellent. I blame gremlins.
I reported this to Roll20 a little while ago and they confirmed it, but don't have an ETA--there is a bug with how Roll20 is building the items in the Asset Library. Items at the top level of your library can be dragged, but they can't be dropped. Move them into a folder and reload the VTT tab, or do a search or open up the asset library window, and it'll work. There's no problem with the images themselves. I am pretty sure what's happened is that there's a little bit of javascript that gets a list of items you can see in the asset library, iterates through them, and adds a property or otherwise processes them to make them "drag and droppable." And a bug introduced with a recent edit to that script means that assets that aren't in a folder/directory, the ones that are at the top level, aren't in the list of things this script operates on.

Hmm. I don't seem to be able to repeat this issue. For me, things I drag and drop from Recent Uploads (the top level) work regardless of whether I have filed them in a subfolder. Maybe I'm missing a step.

So, grain of salt and all--like a lot of Javascript bugs this may manifest differently for everyone, but since I've had multiple other folks confirm this behavior, I'm pretty sure I'm not crazy , you might just be lucky. But here's how it works for me, with an example from my art library: You can see here, I'm relatively, uh... persnickety, persnickety is one way of putting it... about organizing my image assets. It might take me a couple weeks, but everything I upload eventually gets sorted into folders, sometimes three or four levels deep. In general, it all works. In this screenshot, I've pulled up a few different ways of accessing these images. Blue boxes are areas where drag-and-drop onto the page works. From the recent uploads, it always works. From the pop-out dialog it always works. (I should have chosen a different view for that just for clarity, but it works regardless of what directory you have open.) Anything nested under at least one folder will always work, and I've got a single example open and highlighted in blue. (And only one, because if I open literally any other folder I hide the recent uploads under miles of images or nested folders.) I also have the search box highlighted in blue, because if you run a search, your results will always work. HOWEVER, I also have some tokens that I reuse over and over again. They're not located in a folder, they're just under root, at the top level in the collection. I have those highlighted in red. Those do not work and have not been drag-and-droppable for me for a couple of months. Note that I am speaking specifically about dragging onto a page. Drag-and-drop rearrangement still works for every item. Workarounds: you can drag the offending images into a folder and it won't fix them immediately, because the javascript isn't rebuilding the broken object in the page's document object model, it's just shuffling the metaphorical deck chairs on your metaphorical Titanic. HOWEVER, if you do that and then reload the page , that does the trick and it should work. Also, you can just search for your item, or given where it is in the UI, it's easy to click on and open up the separate Asset Library dialog box, and you can easily drag and drop out of either of those interfaces. Premium assets are always in folders so I have no idea if there could theoretically  be a problem in that view, but it should never actually come up in practice. Web assets are always revealed in search and so they always work, although if you save a web asset to your library (instead of to a folder) it will  trigger this bug. You can work around it in all the same ways.

Ah, I was misunderstanding what you meant by top level. You were referring to an image in the saved area, but not in a folder. I was referring to the top level of the art library itself: Recent Uploads. Now I can duplicate and verify the behavior you are seeing. I think your only option( until and unless Roll20 changes something) is to bite the bullet and put those items into a folder and keep that folder at the top of the list, expanded.
