Extra dice being rolled when linked from character sheet

August 25 (10 years ago)
Hi there.

Long time RPG player, sometime GM.

My group is now split living in various cities, we're looking to use Roll20 to support our gaming habits.

We are attempting to play a D&D 5E campaign, and just getting started with both the game and the Roll20 system. Currently we are having issues with the dice being rolled from the character sheet. We are using a D&D group generated sheet (don't know the version, not the GM, sorry!). The issue is that whenever a roll is cast from the character sheet (to hit, damage, save, ability check etc.) multiple dice are rolled. It appears that double dice are used - ie: attack roll throws 2d20 instead of 1, sneak attack (l1 rogue) rolls 2d6 and 2d8 instead of 1d6 and 1d8....

Not sure if there is a setting for this, or if we need to just remake all the macros? Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Joel

Which sheet are you using? The 5th edition sheet or the next sheet? The 5th edition sheet has a larger logo than the next.

The attack rolls are set up to show 2 rolls. The reason being reduction in macro spam. If you are rolling a normal attack use the first roll on the left of the |, if you have advantage or disadvantage use the higher or lower of the rolls. ei. 19 | 8. I rolled a 19 to hit. If I was at a disadvantage the roll to hit would be 8.

If it's the 5e sheet you are using then see the FAQ section of the new help page on the roll 20 wiki - https://wiki.roll20.net/DnD5e_Character_Sheet#FAQ

Ah....yes I see, thank you.

Long time player, but hapless techno-weenie. Appreciate the response!
