November 1, 2018 Thursday 1:00 PM Uncle Edgar and Sherry were concerned when Kismet did not come back to the party last night. She explains that she was dealing with a witch’s curse. Uncle Edgar wants to see her when she has time for something very important. [Intended but not actually addressed in game. Dr. Edgar wants to know more about the ghost. He wants to know what the ghost did to reconnect him to his powers. When Orson was possessing him his mental powers were reinstated, but when the ghost left him so did access to his powers. When Orson was possessing him he was aware of everything that was happening but was powerless to act or interfere. If he could figure out what the ghost did he could have his powers back and not be insane. Think of the good I could do!] [Also Sherry wanted to complain about how Spencer is getting too perverted for her taste. ‘Yeah, a little kink is fun but he is going nuts!’ Spencer wants to start on online service where guys log in and tell attractive girls what they want them to do on camera. He wants it to be heavy into bondage and BDSM. If that wasn’t enough Spencer wants to include every kind of kink that can make money. Including exhibitionism, bestiality, and he wants to find models who are barely 18 years old but look (or can be made to look) much younger to appeal to the pedophile crowd. Spencer wants Sherry to be the cornerstone for his new web service which he wants to all Bound-2-Plez.] Paladin monitors the net and the Bunker’s Trouble Alert. Genji is drinking and working with his alchemy. CounterBlast is at home (the Bunker) being a pest to Paladin as he is on monitor duty. Revenant is cloaked and patrolling the city. Paladin has a flash vision. He sees Rhazazarak who compliments on evading the traps he’d laid for him but he warns that his wrath is coming. He tells Paladin he will rip out his still beating heart, take a bite from it, and discard the rest of his worthless remains. 6PM At the appointed time the group goes to Post Nuclear to meet with Lilli. Everyone, Paladin, Genji, Kismet, CounterBlast, and Revenant go to see her. Sam, in the role of bouncer, lets them pass. The group moves through the club floor to the stairs on the far side that lead to Lilli’s office that overlooks the floor of the club. Lilli greets them in a violet, almost Burgundy, dress. Kismet starts off by recounting everything that happened on Halloween including that Vonner can merge with Earth. Lilli is surprised by that, it is a power the she did not know he possessed. Lilli tells them about how, among Cainites, that Diablerie is a vampire of a certain generation consuming an older vampire in order to improve their own generation, killing the older vampire in the process. She also says that according to her intelligence sources Vonner has left the city, very likely the country. She thinks that he has returned to Europe where he the greatest influence. Paladin knows that Vonner is a member of Raven but he knew there were two Ravens in the city. He asks Lilli if she knew who the second one was. Lilli identifies that both Crypt and Vonner were members of Raven. She also tells them that Raven does not help, even its own members, for free. It is her belief that getting Raven’s help is expensive enough that Vonner is unlikely to go to them for help, at least for a while. Also if Vonner accomplished his goal he might not be seen in America for centuries. Kismet tells her that the contents of the book, that Vonner was using to summon Rhazazarak was destroyed. Only its cover remains to be used as bait and so that Kismet can object read using its link to Vonner. Lilli suggest that spell might only be cast on Halloween. Now that it has passed they couldn’t use the spell again for a year, assuming they can find another copy of that spell. In gratitude for fighting Raven and the Sabbat Lillli also gives them (Paladin, Kismet, Genji, CounterBlast, and Revenant) access to Post Nuclear any night without having to pay the cover charge. Kismet asks that if Vonner becomes active in New York again that she tell the Brigade. Lilli happily agrees saying that it was as good as done! The group leaves her office but Revenant cloaks himself and double back. He sees a ugly, monstrous, vampire emerge from the shadow of her desk. His name is Richard and the two chat about clan politics and why she didn’t tell the Brigade what the payment Rhazazak offered to Crypt / Vonner would to be. Lilli says she might give Paladin that information for his birthday this year. Richard and Lilli talk about how the Camarilla has become too visible lately, not cautious enough. She tells Richard that tomorrow night she will call a full council meeting to discuss what will be done. Richard leaves and she summons Sam. She tell Sam to let the clans know that a council meeting for tomorrow night. She says that all Camarilla are to feed only on the willing (blood dolls). If any Cainites should feed on the unwilling a Blood Hunt will be immediately called upon the vampire that violates the order. Sam will carry the summons to the clans of the city. Kismet buys drinks for all the members of the team who hang out at Post Nuclear, except for Genji. She only him a singular drink. Time Passes. Paladin and Kismet both cast their votes on the Tuesday election. Wednesday Marshal Endicott, of the American People’s Party, is identified as New York’s latest governor. He will be inaugurated in January. November 7, 2018 Wednesday 10:00AM A man came to the super secret base (The Bunker). Revenant answered the door. The man eventually identifies himself as Alec McPhearson and he requests to see Paladin. Pressed as to why he refuses to give an answer. Revenant, without identifying him, calls Paladin come to the door. Paladin asks why Alec wants to see Paladin but he continues to evade the issue. Alec asks Revenant if he is a member of the Brooklyn Brigade. Ascertaining that he is he hands a piece of paper to him. The paper is a summons. The First National Bank of New York is suing the Brooklyn Brigade for the sum of 1 million dollars in address for damages caused by the loss Dollar Bill and Dollar Girl. The position of the bank is that if Dollar Bill and Dollar Girl were not placed in heightened jeopardy by assisting the Brooklyn Brigade on October 24, 2018 against a super powered criminal organization. The duo disappearing has placed the bank in greater danger of being robbed and the staff of the bank are suffering from mental distress. Alec McPhearson, having completed his assignment leaves the base. Revenant tells Paladine that he has some legal knowledge and offers to help with the case but Paladin decides to contact Harold Leland. Leland worked for the Brigade before when he was retained by Paladin to evaluate the dissolution contract between the Brooklyn Brigade, The Prometheus Foundation, and Cassandra Clemons on or around October 12, 2018. It is decided that giving the bank a token payoff would be in the Brigade’s best interest. Leland suggests that $10,000 would likely make them go away rather than risk getting nothing if they insist on taking the matter to court. The subject of the disappearing heroes (such as Dollar Bill and Dollar Girl) brought their attention back to the mini-Exodus. Paladin goes to Cleopatra’s Needle and finds the note he left for the Arcanes (Doctor, Lady, and Lord) still sitting there from October 12. He adds that it is urgent that they contact the Brigade and returns the note to the crevice he pulled it from. Kismet heads to The Sixth Chakra bookstore. The clerk working there shakes his head when he sees her. He tells her that the door to Master’s garden stopped working weeks ago and he does not know why. He suspects that the Master withdrew the bridge or something dreadful has happened. Genji, Counterblast, and Revenant head out to where the Big Day battle took place to see if they could find any clues. They collect trace material from the pentagram that was scorched into the Earth. While standing within the border of the pentagram Counterblast feels residual energy radiating from the soil. The energy makes him nauseas. Despite the fact it is making him ill he believes he can attune to it if it is needed. Genji examines the area and comes to believe the magic used was ancient, prehuman, and evil to a degree that he’s never experienced before. He believes the power is related to the Elder Gods. After hearing back from the others Paladin decides that he needs to consult a magical expert but such scholars are in short supply these days. After consulting with the others he decides to go talk to the coven they discovered on Halloween, the Caruthers family. The eldest sister, Mel, answers the door. Paladin asks to see her mother. Mel tells him that she will get her mother but she and Paladin need to have a reckoning soon. Paladin is surprised and loudly asks ‘for what?’ His question isn’t answered. Monia greets Paladin and invites him in, she is annoyed that her daughter left him standing on the stoop. Paladin explains why he is here but Monia stops him. She goes to get Winguric as he would be better able to address the issue. Paladin repeats everything to Winguric but he does not have the answers Paladin seeks but says given time he should be able to come up with something. He asks for an hour. Rather than waiting there Paladin excuses himself. Winguric asks that when he comes back (in an hour) he brings the rest of the team that way he can address their question at the same time. Winguric also tells Paladin that they don’t need money but asks if Paladin will grant him a boon in payment for whatever answers he can provide. He also suggests that since Paladin does not care for his wife’s tea that he should bring a beverage of his choice to enjoy at their next meeting. An hour later: The team assembles in the Caruthers parlor. Monia welcomes each member of the team as they arrive. She takes special note of Genji who she recognizes as having a curse upon him. Genji explains how he was cursed by the god of sake. Monia is impressed that he got himself cursed by a benevolent deity. After the group is settled and Paladin hands out coffee Winguric joins them. He tells them that he thinks he has identified the spell that was used on the group. He demonstrates how the spell was spread by contact by pouring coffee on his hand and then touching Paladin and Kismet. The then shakes Genji’s hand and has him touch Counterblast. The coffee represented the spell and the transfer showed how the spell spread. Winguric relates a tale of someone in the ancient past cast the spell and targeted at usuries and moneylenders. He let the spell work its way through the population for a year. When the triggering event occurred almost all the usuries in the known world vanished forever. That tale was about a man who used the spell that he learned from Livre d’Eidon (GM Note: I attributed the spell to a different volume during the game because I couldn’t find the relevant notes. Sorry!). Winguric says there are no known complete volume of that book in the world. What’s worse, in order to be able to analyze the spell they would need the one that the Demon members used. They need that specific book. They could try using one of the Livre d’Eidon’s sister books. He knows where one is rumored to be. The rare books section of Miskatonic University in Arkham Massachusetts. If it contains a similar spell, and that is quite the ‘if’, it might be able to answer the question that the Brooklyn Brigade wants to know: where did the vanished go and how can they be brought home.
