[DnD 5e] As noob as a noob could get

(Please forgive any spelling or grammar errors, i was beyond tired when i typed this up) Okay, let me explain a little. For as long as i can remember i've been beyond invested in rping in games that were literally the opposite of that type of playstyle. From Military rp's in Call of Duty games to just a massive variety in Halo games it was these pretend worlds forged and improvised on the spot that made up most of my enjoyment. So the fact that i had completely ignored the existence of RPG and more specifically for this topic TTRPG is almost baffling looking back at it, especially with what has happend in that time. Now it's probably important to specify now that i turned 18 in June 2022 but i can safely say that i've been doing these types of RPs for 7 years. However, it was around the time a certain disease plagued our world that i started to try and move away from just the casual one-off session and want to move into long term RP stuff and by this point it was all strictly on Halo. That has been very hit or miss, some scenarios are interesting, some were unamusing...same logic for the players except change unamusing to just being absolute pric- It was around that time the i started getting very heavy into building lore and making characters, both of which relate to my current college course that im studying that involves story writing, character making an scriptwriting (There is also journalism and the smallest hint of poetry but eh, not important). Now although making characters and more prominently the will to play these characters was far superior to wanting to lead RPs or make worlds but my fears were that i would have never been granted the chance to use my characters in the way i would have wished, which looking back should have been a blatantly obvious issue. However my thrill and intrigue for character creation got absolutely amplified by a certain thing people around here know as Critcal Role. Now i had watched very few clips of Critical Role prior to my instant intrigue but that was mainly because back then i couldn't have cared less about DnD...now i do and im facing the exact same problem as i was before, i had gotten so invested into character creation that i had bought the standard sourcebook set on DnD Beyond before i had even played a game with the base things available but there was still the issue that all of their backstories (except from one who doesn't have one yet) were all homebrewed into the one world... Yes, once again i had resorted to creating a world that my characters could work in, but even then i knew nothing about DnD worlds...except from Exandria that is...you can see where this is going. So i made all of these character so that their backstories relate to a homebrew version of Exandria, and by homebrew version i mean i added a completely new continent/region just south of Tal'dorei. Now at first this seemed like a perfect idea, creating a completely new region would have allowed me to make up lore, regions and characters for it that wouldn't collide with what was already present in the world, even if some characters originated outside of the region with some of them mainly being from Emon but there all came one even bigger problem. My crown jewel of a character despite me having made a world that he can be used in was still clouded by one problem...i couldn't play him as a straight up PC, or at least not in the way i would have ultimately wished. Now with this character, his creation was a bit of a mess...he was not only the first character i had made using DnD beyond but he was the first character i had made for DnD in general, but it all ended well. He acquired some fairly good manuel roll stats and his homebrew backstory (which as of Friday 13th January is now an almost 3000 word document) was probably some of my best character development. And his homebrew stuff wasn't even all to bad in regards to character feats as the only homebrew there is his subclass. The character was a base Warlock and the Subclass was Called Vessel of Dread...you want to know what it did? literally nothing except grant him a spell that i never even actaully use when i pushed him to lvl 20 to see what he would be like. So what that ultimately means is that his homebrew subclass, a thing that was taking up a very important slot for a Warlock was nothing more than a title for his backstory and thats...okay. I would be lying if i wasn't slowly getting into DnD just for the Roleplay and not entirely for gameplay but i know that one does not come without the other so that comes to the whole point of this. Essentially i just want someone who would be interested in hearing this homebrew stuff and ultimately a party/dm (long-term) that would be interested in granting me the chance to use the character to his peak, specifically for him as a character and for his backstory. Im also looking for just an in general learning experience. Like i said, im a noob, i've never played a DnD game so it would be great to finally have that experience as well as be able to use the character and his backstory. i apologise for making you read all that but i just felt like it was required to properly convey what my goal is here. If my little post does intrigue you then please say, i would be more than willing to give you my Discord name so we can talk. if not, i still thank you for taking some time out of your life to read this.
Hi, Ghost... I have a game that will be starting out in early Feb, Sunday afternoon/evenings from 4pm CST to whenever folks need to leave that is homebrew closest to 5E. Don't see any reason that kind of character wouldn't work in it, take a look at the writeup and see if it's anything you'd be ineterested in... https://app.roll20.net/forum/post/11280426/new-game-5e-ish-homebrew-sunday-evenings-4pm-whenever-folks-need-to-leave-us-cst-have-2-players-looking-for-more-see-details
Should probably have explained the character in a little more detail. In a quick summary the character is a highborn noble from a homebrew region I made within Exandria and would have been exiled after his family and other nobles discovered his relations to his faith and his studies of their dark arts. The character is far more detailed than that but that is stuff for private messages.
