Dnd 5e NPC Character sheet not autocalculating values from variables

Hey guys. I want to make a character sheet for my familiar in roll20. We are using "Valdas spire of secrets" in our Session and because i am a witch, my familiar, can use my spell attack Bonus for his attacks, is adding my proficiency Bonus to his saving throws and his proficiency Bonus is the same as mine etc. I know there is a Formular to use "variables" from another character sheet, you can just use @{char_name|field_name} so for example @{Bob|pb} to get the pb of character Bob. The Problem is, that in my character sheet, now it is not autofilling the value, there is still this Formular. Also if i want to add it to the saving throws, the saving throws +x line is not showed and if i add the Spell attack Bonus there is still standing the normal "+4" but not adding the sab. That's a bit of a Problem, because we roll with our own dice and uses the roll20 character sheet to see the information bundled. Do you have an idea, how to let roll20 Show the right value and you dont need to change it manually every time your sab or pb is changing?

NPC character sheets do not autocalculate anything.  5e NPC design precludes the use of autocalculations because it is mostly ad-hoc. Example: The attack bonus is not derived from PB + Strength or Dexterity modifer, it is chosen during the monster's creation process and may or may not equal PB + Strength or Dexterity modifier.  Same with damage, health, AC, etc.  If you want a sheet that autocalculates, you need to use the PC sheet.

You won't be able to get custom rolls to display on the sheet like that - the parser operates in the chat area, not on the character sheet inputs. However, it will calculate once called in chat if you wrap it in an inline roll [[ 13 + @{npc_pb}[PB] ]] And then called in chat with @{selected|npc_ac} Gauss's suggestion of using the PC sheet is probably good advice if your familiar is getting a bunch of PC-like abilities. It's worth noting though that you won't be able to get the PC sheet to display that custom AC either - the sheetworker that calculates AC only allows the core abilities to be used in the custom calculation, not PB, so you'd have to use the same trick as the NPC sheet.

This kind of NPC is often a creature that is based off of the main character's stats. Such as a an Alchemist's Homunculus.  How my group(s) deal with it is by making notes of what changes on the NPC when the PC levels up, we put that in a section on the NPC.
