My tokens Can't see anything

Roll20 is so confusing for no reason. I have dynamic lighting on, i have my walls setup and when i do ctrl L to see from my tokens perspective everything works. I signed into another account in incog mode on chrome to join and control the token but i can't see anything from that account. Please help...

AND WHY CANT I DELETE THE PERMANANT DARKNESS I ACCIDENTALLY PUT UP THERE I CLICK RESET DARKNESS AND ITS STILL THERE WHAT IS THIS WEBSITE WHY DID I EVEN PAY TO USE IT OMFG

you all seriously need to get professionals to fix this terrible VTT. Nothing makes sense, nothing is consistent, and WHERE IS THE DELETE TOOL FOR DARKNESS

Ctrl+L only shows line of sight for the token.  Because you're GM, you'll still see everything with that.  The dummy account is the way to see what the token actually sees, and in this case I think you probably forgot to turn on vision for the token:

Resetting permanent darkness puts it back to ON.  If you want to show the area, use the Reveal tool:

I have vision on for the token, idk what else to do. I'm literally losing my mind being stuck on this. I have so much other stuff i need to do

I can't even see anything when i place a light

Have you moved the token? You have it set to not update until you move the token.

cant see or move them as the player

just turned it off but its still black

and the control by is set for the token.  Or the page ribbon is on the right map.

If you cannot move the token as the player then you haven't set the permission for the token or character. You need to give yourself permission for when you switch to player mode, or give your test account permission. Like you would with any player.

If that doesn't work please screenshot the character or token's controls.

If you would like to DM an invite to the game, and promote me to GM, I could take a peek around. It's almost certainly something small being overlooked.

Here's my standard token vision & lighting troubleshooting list:

  1. Make sure you are using Chrome or Firefox.
  2. Make sure you are set to only use either Updated Dynamic Lighting or Legacy Dynamic Lighting, not both.
  3. Token must have vision enabled.
  4. Token must be 'controlled' by the player who is checking vision.
    1. You should use a 'dummy account' in order to see changes live/instantaneously when you make them as GM. There are other benefits as well (streaming, testing macros and other tricks, resetting the game URL).
  5. There needs to be a light source.
    1. Tokens always emit light from the center of the token -- in LDL it comes from a small point in the center of the image, and in UDL it comes from a circle that is some small percentage of the image size -- so if you set the map image as a light source, you'll get some funky behavior.
  6. Token and light source need to be on the correct layers.
  7. Do not use .webm animated tokens. They are currently bugged and often will not work correctly and prevent visibility.
  8. If a player cannot see, move their token.  There is a bug with UDL that prevents player vision from 'activating' until after one of their tokens is moved on a page.
  9. Make sure you don't have a Fog of War/Permanent Darkness layer on.
  10. Make sure you don't have Advanced Fog of War/Explorable Darkness blocking vision.
    1. Explorable Darkness and Advanced Fog of War are saved for each player.  So if a player has control of a token, they will see all of their 'explored area'.
  11. Page 'Cell Width' settings can have an affect on a token's vision, especially if the 'light multiplier' is set to something other than 100%. Switch the Cell Width to '1' and see what happens.
  12. Check random other page settings, such as 'Restrict Movement'
  13. Make sure your view is centered on a token that has vision enabled and a light source
  14. Make sure you/your players are on the correct page. Double check that they have not been split from the Party ribbon.
  15. Clear your browser cache.
  16. Clear the game chat archive.
