18/3/23 Session 1:The Night-Black Pits. Severos' account: 'Our first adventure. Rescuing the princess'

Our motley crew of four met at the local pub, Harko’s Tavern in the Dives. We were all very low on coin and in desperate need of a paying adventure. It started pretty poorly with Kromdar having little luck with the locals. Luckily, Jir-El jumped in an was able to find a good job rescuing a local princess who had been recently abducted. In no time our gang was chasing to the scene of the abduction going down a flight of stairs where they had last been seen. Kromdar was an excellent scout and quickly led us to an area where we were immediately jumped upon by 3 wolves and a cultist. The group made quick work of this lot but Kromdar took quite a hit and needed some healing from Severos. The party was healed and gathered loot including a crossbow, 25GP, and a silver brooch of a demon ape worth 30SP. Kromdar could hear chanting from the southeast so we went in that direction to check it out. The team carried on into the labyrinth and unfortunately were ambushed by a Giant spider. The spider inflicted much damage and effects on the party, who struggled even hit the beast but the motley crew managed to defeat it in the end. There was no loot in this room, it appears it was simply a trap. The party noticed some light coming up from an upper level, so we doubled back to get to the upper floor. We managed to stay quiet enough to avoid alerting too many foes but did manage to fight a lone watchman cultist. The battle was quick and the cultist was defeated in short order. The chanting was growing louder so we decided to follow our ears. Kromdar was the first to enter the room and took considerable damage whilst dealing out very little of his own. Jir-El was next in,  followed by Coran. They managed to damage the cultists, but were unfortunately not able to avoid a fireball from the priest. Kromdar was the next victim of fireball. The princess was on the alter in front of the shadowy form of the almost summoned demon. Almost all hope was lost with 3 of the 4 adventurers bleeding out on the floor dying. Miraculously Jir-El managed to rally herself up, releasing a deadly double shot combination on the priest, skewering him to the wall, ending the summoning. Severos managed to kill a cultist and stabilise Coran, whilst Kromdar and Jir-El managed to free the princess. Time was running out for Jir-El and Kromdar. Seevros managed to just get to Jir-El and stabilise her. The princess, seeing Kromdars state, held him in her arms until his eventual heroic death. The team managed to kill all but one of the cultists, but one did manage to escape. The team took a rest and looted the room finding 25GP, a silver bracelet worth 30SP, and another 7GP on the priest. The party exited the labyrinth and took the princess back to the castle to her uncle. The uncle rewarded the reaming 3 team members handsomely with 100GP each. The team went back to town with all of their new found treasure. They sold it all for 63GP so each had a final haul of 121GP in total. Now time for some rest, some training and most importantly purchasing some better gear for our next adventure.
