As much as Liam is a mysterious figure, clad in his worn leather jacket, playing his upright bass with a skill and passion that captivates the audience, he barely seems out of place with the rest of Jazz Quartet. Alajazzam is full of obvious rejects and fringe members of society, with a young local boy called Johnny on drums with his tiny frame but muscular arms, glasses and stripy long sleeved top which is so obviously cheap and overworn. A promising archaeologist named Kat on keyboard, pierced and dressed mostly in black aside from the long colourful rainbow knee socks, and Leah on the saxophone, who captures the audience with the melodic tones of her instrument, beautiful long brown hair, short but slender and comically out of proportion with her instrument. Her smile lights up the room with genuine joy and sends a warmth through Liam as he climbs onto the stage. Their music is unique and evocative, with the blend of the saxophone and the upright bass bringing out the best in each other. Liam's fingers slide effortlessly up and down the neck of his bass, producing a deep and resonant sound that reverberates throughout the room. Leah's saxophone plays in perfect harmony with Liam's bass, creating a mesmerizing and enchanting sound that leaves the audience breathless. As the night progresses, Liam finds himself lost in the music, his mind wandering back to a time long ago when he first discovered his love for jazz. He remembers the smoky clubs and the sultry sounds of the saxophone, and how he fell in love with the genre. His thoughts then turn to Leah, who he has been playing with for some time now. She is beautiful, with long, flowing hair and eyes that are as deep as the notes she plays on her saxophone. Liam knows that his feelings for Leah are impossible, and probably not even real but an echo of when he was able to feel for real in life. She is so full of life and warmth he cannot help but be drawn to her even as he was on the first day when he couldn't bring himself to feed from her. He often finds himself stealing glances in her direction, her playful flirty nature leaving it's mark on him. He feels a pang of regret that he can never be with her in the way that he desires, but he knows that he must continue to play with her, for the music they make together is magical and more and more the reason for his desire to continue his otherwise meaningless existence. As the night draws to a close, Liam plays the final notes of their set, the sound lingering in the air. He looks over at Leah, and their eyes meet briefly. Liam knows that he might not survive the week and feels the regret that he became tangled in these events rather than remaining in the background, playing his music. He resolves to try to extracate himself from his current situation and return to the life of the set musician. He looks down at Mehdi in the audience and gives him a half smile. Whilst the night was closing here, there's had barely begun.
