I'm working on a map with walls, windows, doors, and lighting. When I shift-L, I can see the token and lighting but when I re-join as player under the settings menu, I can't see anything. Is this correct or am I doing something wrong?
You likely need to 1) drag the player ribbon to that page if it isn't there already, and 2) assign yourself as a controller on that token/character. As a GM, you implicitly control everything, but when you rejoin as a player, you only control what has been explicitly assigned to you.
Ctrl-L does not give you a Player's view of a token. It gives you that tokens Line of Sight, which includes anything on the GM layer (in addition to some other potential quirks). If you want to test Dynamic Lighting from a Player's view, the only foolproof way to do it yourself is by using a Dummy Account . There are other useful reasons to use a Dummy Account in addition to Dynamic Lighting.

Is this correct or am I doing something wrong? Do you as SL have control over the token? And if a Sheet is attached to it, do you have control over that sheet? You need to have control over the token to be able to see what the token sees.
Thank you, all, for your responses. I ended up creating a dummy account. @The Aaron: Also, I think that part about the party tab was also my screw up. Thanks for that.
