Starfinder skill ranks

I am trying to create an operative and having issues with the skills part. At the top it says i have 31/9 skills. That seems off. However operatives edge gives me 1 skill rank in around 16 skills, I think that is what is not adding up. Is there somewhere else i should be adding the skills for operatives edge? Also the core rule books say I cant have more than 1 skill rank in each skill at level one. But with operatives edge i have 2 ranks in a bunch. Am I doing this wrong?

Operative's edge doesn't give a skill rank, it gives a flat insight bonus to all skill checks you make (and initiative checks). As for how to record the effect of Operative's edge, which starfinder sheet are you using? The by Roll20 one? or the Simple sheet?
Ok. Seems i am doing it wrong. I am using the roll 20 character sheet
Ran into another issue. Operatives edge also gives me +1 to initative and i took improved initiative which fives me a plus 4. I am not sure where to put these. I put them under buffs right now but the checkbox and the example is haste makes it seem like that is supposed to be temporary while operatives edge and improved initiative is permanent. Is there somewhere else I should be putting these?

You can do the same thing in the abilities themselves: So it's easily copiable, here's the mod from that pictured operative's edge (replace the 1 in @{class_1_level} with whichever class slot your operative class is in): 1+floor((@{class_1_level} + 1)/4) insight to initiative and skills
I might be using a different skill sheet because I do not see anything that looks like your screenshot. What is the difference between an insight bonus and a skill rank?

Can you post a screenshot of the character sheet you're using. As for the insight bonus vs rank talk to your gm and/or look through the srd at https://aonsrd.com/ .
This is my sheet, my main issue is that I have 31/9 skills. But I also don't know where to add my extra bonuses to initiative.

Ok, that is the official starfinder sheet. If you click on the abilities tab (next to the blue attacks tab in the middle of the sheet), you'll find the interface I directed you to use before. You then want to remove all of the ranks you have set as your handling of the Operative's edge feat.
Thank you, I found it! Is Operatives edge extraordinary, spell like or the third option i forget. And do i ignore the bits about range, target and duration?

Just ignore the fields you don't need. You can find info on the ability at archives of nethys.
Thank you
