Double negatives in macros

I have a whole bunch of macros which subtract a modifier from a roll. Sometimes the modifier is negative. I had assumed that - -1 would be interpreted as +1, which is what I want, but only just noticed that Roll20 doesn't seem to be able to interpret these commands at all. Any roll involving a  double negative just returns 0. Anyone know a workaround?
You need to use parenthesis'. Such as -(-1)
