Browser not compatible with roll20 message

September 05 (10 years ago)
I can neither hear nor see anyone in the game I'm playing in. This is the message that appears in the chat dialogue:

"The browser you are using is not compatible with WebRTC, which is required for video and voice chat. If you're using an external application such as Skype or you don't want to use video chat, you can safely ignore this message."

I have tried to clear cache, disable extensions, and everything that is listed on the roll20 support page. None of that has worked. Can you help me out?
Here is some more info:

Just to cover the bases: do you have the same issue in firefox? And what version of chrome are you using?
Also, you can give this a try: https://tokbox.com/opentok/quick-start/demo.html
It's the bare bones WebRTC demo.

I don't have the same issue in Firefox, it works. I am using chrome version 33.0.1750.154 m.

I've been researching the topic as well and I found that enabling updates on chrome might solve the problem. The only problem with this is that I run windows 7 and the process for doing this is very mucky. Switching to flash in roll20 settings seems to work.

It definitely looks like you're running an older version of Chrome, so updating it could probably help. I was under the assumption that Chrome normally updates automatically, but if it's been disable by an administrator or something that might explain why it wasn't doing that for you. If the flash settings are satisfactory, though, it's good news that you got it working. :)

Yes Sarah, Ross is running an outdated Chrome. The latest Chrome is 37.0.2062.103

For updating chrome, here are instructions. Now if this is at a business and he is using their computers then he is at the mercy of their IT dept and their computer usage policies.
