Stop closing 2 month old threads, or allow them to reopen

I recently have been trying to explore an API script, and found I needed to discuss it with other users to fully understand what is going on. I ran into some recent issues, but I can't make further comments because the threads are older than 2 months. That's not a very long amount of time, and the benefit of a web forum over something like discord is that you can keep threads going over a long period of time. This is extremely frustrating to say the least. Please take advantage of that fact you still use forums by making them less unrealistically restrictive. Thanks!

Allowing the OP to re-open the thread would be nice. Particularly for a mod script thread in which the script hasn't been changed in a while. The current practice of having to create "Mod Script Thread #4... here's links to the three previous threads" is pretty irritating. Having the full thread history in one place just makes sense.

Not addressing the suggestion specifically, just providing a potential workaround while the suggestion is ongoing: For threads that really should not be re-started I would suggest sending in a help request via the Help Center to reopen the thread. While I am not sure if you will get a positive outcome the Devs do have the means to re-open old threads so it is worth a try.

I have made a service ticket and waiting to see if it can get opened again. I truly hope to reach a person who can help me!

By writing the above post I just realized something. The last post on this suggestion was over a year ago! Suggestion posts are never closed as long as they have at least 10 votes. So if you need to write a REALLY long living post, like something that should last for 3 years, write it as a suggestion and get 10 votes! It will never close!

+1, I've seen so many dynamic threads cut short because the discussion went quiet.  I get not wanting necro threads revived after years, but sometimes they're about problems that still exist, and it would be a lot clearer to add to one thread, than to have several from different eras discussing the same thing. And that's particularly true for API (Mod? I can't bring myself to call it a mod) scripts. The scripts don't go away even if the discussion stops, so why should the thread?

Having threads which close makes no sense to me - the OP can direct people to start a new thread if its a new topic already. If a thread is inactive or old, it already drops from visibility. So I'm strongly in favour.

+1 Upvote. There are suggestions made in the past that mirror my own, and searching them out does no good, because they can no longer be commented on. That's why multiple threads get created by different users over time. By keeping them open, you would actually trim back on new threads and duplicate threads, reducing server load.
