Hello, I'm new to RPG and need help/teaching

As above, I am completely new to Roll20 and I'm used to things like Sims, COD, Astroneer, Battlefield and Hogwarts etc. (basically console and PC games) I've wanted to play D&D for a long time but never found anyone to help. I'm in my 30s but I am a quick learner if not a bit ditzy at times. I have no idea what to do, or how to do it, I have no clue about the differences in all the options when looking for a group in the 'find a group' page. So I'm just asking for a group to help me out learn how to play and enjoy the game, who have patience and can explain things to me without frying my brain. I would prefer English, and I have Discord if needed. From some posts I've read I will add that I can do voice chat (obviously it will be easier). oooh, also i am GMT+1 (BST) time. I am free from 6:30pm weeknights and all weekends, if possible, Mondays and Thursdays are better but any day. Im happy for weekly, fortnightly, or monthly games.  Please Thankyou Tia

Well, everyone is going to tell you to just jump into a D&D game, but there are plenty of Tabletop RPGs (TTRPGs) to choose from, it just depends on what you like. For example, if you prefer a more story-based and character-driven RPG, there are game systems dedicated to that. Same for combat. And some game systems are better suited for fantasy VS sci-fi, etc. For a simpler cinematic/narrative system, i recommend something like 2d20 (add 2 numbers to get the Target Number, and roll 2 twenty-sided dice and get equal to or under that number), or Powered by the Apocalypse (just roll 2 regular 6-sided dice and anything above a 7 total succeeds), or something that doesnt even use dice at all.

I don't know what I like yet. I like the idea of a character based story...  I don't know which sort of game to jump into though as I don't understand what any of the games really are or the type of game it is. And it's a little over whelming.  I will try jump into one. I just don't want to frustrate people by not knowing what I'm doing.

It's okay for you to be so green, you have little idea of what you like and/or want.  Just be sure to tell that to whomever you play with, whether they are fellow players or the one running the game.  Everyone was new once, and it's okay to not know or understand something; more than that, lots of people are welcoming to newcomers.  They tend to be patient and understanding. Also, It's good to read about the game you end up playing (lots of resources available online and elsewhere) and even better to ask questions (though try not to ask the same one repeatedly).  Make your position clear (character-focused game) and look around a lot to see what sparks your interest.  I hope you find a great group with whom you'll have years of fun!
