Video/Player Avatar

My Avatar shows up at first when the screen loads, but only for a split second. Then it goes to black. Everyone else can see the chat avatar on their screens. Is there something I can do to fix that? Its a small thing, but for some reason REALLY annoys me... Refreshing and logging out/in doesn't work. I have also tried other images and that didnt work. I want to point out that this is not a map or chat issue. Only the Avatar image circled in red is the one that can't be seen and only (so far) on my screen. Any help is appreciated! Thanks Squirrley

Try turning off sending video in the settings tab (gear).

No, that was pretty much my only guess. =(

What happens if you mouse-over the black box? Do you get a Mute button or any settings there? Or if you change Video/Player Avatar Size to, say, "Small"? As a workaround would you be ok with changing Video/Player Avatar Size to "Names Only"? That way maybe it wouldn't annoy you, at least.

So, if I understand correctly the bug you are reporting is that you have no avatar image? When you have video and voice or just voice only the avatar is replaced with a black box.
Gold said: That IS indeed the setting that he was recommending for you. And you have the setting correct already, indeed. So that is a curious and unexpected issue you're having with the black box. Normally that happens just for the reason that Aaron explained. I have some ideas for troubleshooting, and I have a couple hunches on what the issue might be, but I certainly do not know the answer from what we've seen so far. What happens if you mouse-over the black box? Do you get a Mute button or any settings there? What happens if you change Video/Player Avatar Size to, say, "Small"? What happens if you change to a different avatar image as a test? If that works without the issue, then I'd say try re-saving your desired avatar image and re-upload it, in case the image file is somehow corrupted. As a workaround would you be ok with changing Video/Player Avatar Size to "Names Only"? That way maybe it wouldn't annoy you, at least. Thanks for the reply! When I roll the mouse over it the mic icon does show the microphone mute button (no photo though). No one is on so I cant test the size I have changed images and they both did the same thing. I will try to re-test these tomorrow. Thanks ~Squirrley

I was worried it might be that... : / I posted about it in the suggestions thread... maybe that can be changed... Thanks for the reply!

Indeed. Gauss gave the best and right answer. I replied again over in your Suggestions thread, just to offer a work-around that CAN put your picture back in that spot even while Voice is enabled. It's a third-party program for the workaround -- CamTwist or ManyCam -- and it necessitates that you turn video mode back on, but just use one of the programs I mentioned to send a still-picture through your cam-feed.
Thanks!
