[SR5] New to roll20 - tip and tricks for GM?

Hi, folks. I'm new to roll20 and have been working on getting familiar with Shadowrun and setting up a group here. I chose Shadowrun because I wanted to try something I would be introduced to and have to introduce players to myself. I'd like to rep the game and P&P in this way. Just a few questions: Is it possible to take the campaign I've made and run it for more than one group? I anticipate that I might need to run the campaign for two small groups that can't meet together. I'm looking for any tips and tricks to making combat run smoothly- I've created some macros that use selected token to speed it along, as well as public and private tests, but what I'm really looking for is a quick damage resolving macro. Anyone have any handy? I would like to find a way to speed along character generation and present the setting to players so they get introduced to the game early. Anyways - I'll probably be putting a week or so of work into it as my book arrives and I get things detailed and created. I welcome new players and veterans alike.

Hello Vulreyn and welcome to the community. I don't play shadowrun so I can't make suggestions about any of the specifics (combat macros and such) but depending on if you are planning to run the same campaign for two different groups or have the two groups playing in the same campaign but on different days. Two different groups are the easiest to do. You will need to build your campaign completely and have it ready for players then clone/extend the campaign (you do it from your campaign's detail page) and rename the second one to a different title. This is pretty much all you need to do then you recruit players for those two individual campaigns. The two groups in the same campaign is harder. You can use the same campaign board but you will need to take extensive notes as what one group does could have ramifications to the other group. The character generation process depends on what is needed to be done. If most of it can be done without your supervision then just get your playes into the campaign board and assign them their sheet and have them make any and all rolls needed there in the chat so you have a log of it. Let them post questions in the forums and answer them. I recommend the question posting due to a specific question you answer might be something 2 or 3 of your group would have and one answer would deal with all of them instead of private messages or voice where you would have to repeat yourself 2 or 3 times. In another thread it was recommend to a new GM that start simple then gradually build up. Read this thread . There is a lot of good advice in it.
Thanks! I want to make character creation and explanation easy because - since I'm likely to be introducing people - I don't count on them having the core books or materials. I want them to be creative and roll their own, but I can't count on them knowing the large amount of skills/items they may take. I don't think I can get around this problem, but I want to try.

What I did for one game is that I created a character generation thread with the needed info in it, including pictures of the tables, and gave a walk through example of how to do it in that thread (very similar to what more games do for their character generation). As for them having or not having the books or materials, you can get the Quick start rules here but I would double check them to make sure they are the edition you have. I think they are the latest edition.
if you haven't had the chance yet, make sure to check out the Roll20 Wiki for more information on specific functions of the application. There's also a user created page with useful tips for running Shadowrun on Roll20: https://wiki.roll20.net/Shadowrun

Very neat - I've implemented a lot of that. Is there a command to make the tracker pop a turn while decrementing that token's Initstat by 10? Or just decrementing all tracker values by 10?

I don't think so without the API. (Mentor level feature)

Aaron is correct as far as I know. It would take an API script to automate the tracker in the manner you want (or so I understand it).
