3.5 D&D Sunday Afternoon(s)

We can use a few players for a huge sandbox campaign adventure. We've kept the game quiet for the past month while fighting off real life trolls who only want to disrupt the game rather than play and have fun. We currently have three (3) really great players and a DM who provides the outline and lets the adventurers tell their own stories. We're looking for a few more really great players who can contribute to the game fun. By "really great players," I don't mean you have to be some technical whiz or even an experienced player. A "really great player" is someone pleasant and enjoyable to hang out with on Sunday afternoon, and since we all like D&D we're gonna play some D&D. Casual and traditional, you start at 1st level and progress quickly. Video is required for this game. Contact me if you would like to join in. Link below, game description copy/pasted below that. https://app.roll20.net/campaigns/details/10938475/the-edge-of-civilized-civilization "If you can't take a little bloody nose, perhaps you should go back home and crawl under your bed. It's not safe here. It's wondrous, with treasures to satiate desires both subtle and vulgar, But it's not for the timid." -Q- This 3.5 Edition Dungeons & Dragons game will be held on Sunday afternoons at 1:00PM based on American East Coast (New York, D.C., Charlotte, Atlanta, Miami) time. Each session will last about 4 hours. 3.5 base rules with considerations. The game is held Sunday, 1:00-5:00. If anyone wants to join a quick meet and greet or play a one-shot, I'm usually on here from 11 or noon o'clock until around 9 every Sunday, and a few weeknights. Otherwise, character roll-up and Session Zero happens in-game, since we've already been playing for 5 weeks as of 9July, 2023. This starts as a 1st level game. It's a sandbox, we figure out what the players want... City adventure, mystery, creepy Halloween, wilderness, traditional dungeon crawl? I'm just the referee who sets up the playground, it's up to you guys to tell your story. I'd like to have 4 players. Actually, I'd like to rotate playing so we have 3 -5 people playing each week. That way, you can play a few weeks in a row and take time off as needed, someone else might play every other week, or whatever works best for each player. This way, we end up with different characters of different levels playing together each week or every other (or third) week as it suits each of the players. A guest coming in to play a NPC for a session is also acceptable. It fits my perspective of running a sandbox and my OD&D/1st Edition AD&D background. Unfortunately, video is required. You don't have to run it the entire game, please turn it off while you scanarfle a snack and fart afterwards, but we need to confirm you aren't a 12y/o jumping into an adult game. By "adult" game, I don't mean pervy stuff, but we're grownups and sometimes a clever sexual innuendo can be a funny joke. I certainly endorse vulgar descriptions of violence during combat scenes, according to what the players are comfortable with. And it's helpful to everyone to see who we're playing with. Are you ready? NO! I said, ARE... YOU... READY?!?!?!?!?!
We picked up a player last week who seems to be a boon to the game. We can still use another player if anyone is interested.

Great! I am running a game every other week on Sundays. So as you stated above, a week/week-off player may be suitable. I would definitely be interested. :) As far as video? If you really want to see an overweight old guy in bathrobe, I could turn my camera back on, suggest you eat at least an hour before though. LOL.
Hey, I’m quite new to D&D and looking for a group as the group I started with rarely has time to play again (diary management is not their biggest strength). Would love to join your campaign!
@Rerednaw (Wanderer?) We're all a bit older, no judgement about age or weight, certainly no dress code. The video has to do with everyone seeing who we're playing with, along with seeing facial expressions and body language during the game. It's also a matter of (depending on your voice tone and accent) knowing who is speaking and when to respond without interrupting them. @Matt F.- New players are always welcome! New players are exciting as they bring new ideas to the game that experienced players may not think of based on previous games they've been involved with. Here's the invitation link for both of you: https://app.roll20.net/join/10938475/7TVykA
I’d be really interested if you still have any space. I’ve been playing 3.x for years and Sunday afternoon is my ideal play time. I had been playing in a PF game but there was a serious lack of interest from all but one of the other players so it wasn’t much fun. Other than that I think I tick all the boxes for a pretty ok player so if there’s anything else you’d like to know feel free to ask.

I'll be in and out all day today, working on tomorrow's game session. If you want to meet and get started with character roll-up just let me know what time is good. Otherwise, I look forward to meeting you tomorrow and we'll get your character put together in-session.
Update: We're at 5 players now, plus me as the DM. It's a casual game, meant to be fun. It's for role-players, not power gamers. With that said, we're still accepting new players who want to come and help create a great story!
howdy ! i'm tea - i'm a bit younger ( 19, nearly 20 ) and unfamiliar with the 3.5 format; i don't know if that'll be a problem or not, but i figured i could post and find out ! i'm newer to the dnd scene, i've only been in one campaign that's been completed. the other two campaigns i was a part of, both run by the same dm, were put on indefinite hold due to personal issues. which is fine ! i just;; really missed roleplaying LOL i enjoy roleplaying a lot and character interaction. i'm a bit timid, but i like to think i can warm up fast with people if they make me feel welcomed.

Don't worry about rules, this is a story telling game. I'm supposed to be the DM and referee, but I just draw the maps and suggest a story outline. Other players are great at knowing the rules exactly, some are experienced and understand how to develop plotlines, others are new to the game and just enjoy a chance to play out a fantasy they've daydreamed about. You're welcome to join the game... you may have to tolerate a few "dad jokes" and you can totally reply with, "Okay, Boomer!" and we'll laugh with you, even though none of us are actually of the Baby Boomer generation.
