# Setting background In 995YK the Archbishop Jaela Daran of the Silver Flame declared that the rebirth of the Silver Prophet had come and the they would lead the world into a new prosperous age of Silver enlightment. The change was slow to gain acceptance within the Silver Flame at first as many other archbishops were unconvinced or unwilling to give up their powerful roles within the religion. The power dynamic drastically shifted when the Silver Prophet began a pilgrimage through Thrane and into Breland, expanding and unifying the human settlements in his passage. After making his way to Sharn, the Silver Prophet met the young Boranel the 2nd and the two became close friends. Meanwhile, archbishop Jaela began expanding on the religion’s tenants, the most contentious being the decree that any non-human was “tainted” and to be treated like any other evil of the world. King Boranel the 2nd took the throne in 998YK after his father was assassinated while hosting the Festival of Mourning in Sharn. Luckily for the Silver Flame, King Boranel the 2nd was a patron of the Silver Flame, and had become a close friend of the Silver Prophet. During the King’s first years of leadership he dissolved the borders of Breland and Thrane, renaming them to The Holy Kingdom of Galifer and proclaimed his new nation as Monotheistic. Any “old god“ worship became prosecutable by imprisonment overnight, the only religion allowed to be practiced in The Holy Kingdom of Galifer being patronage of the Silver Flame. This gave rise to the King’s nickname, the Silver King. In 1003YK, 5 years after his succession, King Boranel declared war against the nations of Droaam to the West and Darguun to the South. The war with Droaam and Darguun were fueled by the King's belief that the monstrous inhabitants of the region were a threat to the purity of the realm and needed to be eradicated. However, the war quickly turned into a stalemate, as the hordes of monstrous creatures proved to be more resilient and organized than anticipated. As the game begins, the players are on-route to Kennrun, a fringe fortification on the edge of The holy nation of Galifar. Kennrun is one of the last towns within the Holy Nation's borders to still take non-humans willingly, though rumor is even that will change soon enough. Regardless Kennrun should provide a place to make some coin, to rest weary heads and to escape from the Silver Flames growing influence. # DM Background I've been DMing for a decade and half. I have a passion for story telling and RP. I tend to prefer the rule of cool over rules as written as, let's be honest, we're a bunch of people playing with virtual miniatures :P # Season approach The first season will last just shy of 3 months, and will serve as an introduction to the players, setting and as a test of interest. I've chosen a season approach as it allows us all some break time to reflect, prepare and anticipate! # Additional Player information - If you're interested in playing something, message me a head of time to confirm if it is allowed. - Homebrew content will not be. - With the exception of: Players will have access to the GunSlinger sub-class (<a href="https://www.dndbeyond.com/subclasses/gunslinger" rel="nofollow">https://www.dndbeyond.com/subclasses/gunslinger</a>) Feel free to drop a message in the forum or DM me if interested
