For the past several days, the talk of the streets and taverns has all been about the so-called death curse: a wasting disease afflicting everyone who's ever been raised from the dead. Victims grow thinner and weaker each day, slowly but steadily sliding toward the death they once denied. When they finally succumb, they can't be raised—and neither can anyone else, regardless of whether they've ever received that miracle in the past. Temples and scholars of divine magic are at a loss to explain a curse that has affected the entire region, and possibly the entire world. Hi all, My name is Katie, I am a dnd player who has had quite some experience under her belt as both a player and dm (about 5 years as a player and 1 as a dm) and has been wanting to get back into dming after quite a long break. I would love for you to join me and others on this next adventure into the jungles of Chult within the Forgotten Realms setting! A few things about me: - I am a math student in university who loves programming and learning technical skills, I have wanted to become a better programmer, though school often limits my progress on projects. - I am a member of the LGBTQ community, particularly, I am a bisexual (sapphic leaning) trans woman who came out about 2 years ago. Though I still do not pass fully, I'm happy to be myself when I can! - I love ttrpgs (duh) A few things about the game: Some basic rules (Some of these will be in the discord server I make for this game): 1. No bigotry (this means racism, sexism, transphobia, homophobia, ableism, etc). I cannot allow this at my table and this will be met with a ban if known. 2. You must be 18+ to join. I don't expect terribly mature themes, but there could be some, and I would prefer to play with adults between the ages 18-29 (around my age). 3. You must be either an ally or a member of the LGBTQ community to join (in vain with rule 1). 4. Please respect others' boundaries and experience. We will go over this in Session 0, but do keep this in mind. 5. Have fun and feel free to give me feedback! Let me know if there’s something you’d like in the game, and I will do my best to accommodate your wish within reason. Preferences for players: - Have some dnd 5e experience under your belt. I'd recommend at least a year. It's ok if your somewhat new, but this game can be challenging at times and is somewhat different from your normal dnd adventure, as I will explain later. - Have some experience with roll20. Formatting: - We will be using Discord VC for sessions and Roll20 for maps and actual gameplay. I expect sessions will be 3-5 hours in length, 6 on rare occasions. - Time is aligned with EST, so keep this in mind. I am hoping that we can schedule a time all of us can play once we have all the players gathered. - You do not have to have your cameras on during sessions, just make sure you're able to properly hear what's going on within the calls and that you have a working microphone and internet connection. - Character sheets have to be either in r20 or in dnd beyond. I personally recommend the former, but you can use dnd beyond, so long as you know how to link sheets from there. Notes about the game: - Set within the Forgotten Realms setting, a classic dnd official setting created by Ed Greenwood, and continues to be a very used setting within dnd 5e play. - As stated above, there is a magical death curse spreading throughout the world that prevents dead from being raised via conventional means of resurrection magic. What this means is that, for the most part, dead characters will stay dead. "People die when they are killed", as one wise man once put it. Therefore, you must be very careful when making decisions in this game, and have a backup character or two in mind in case you do have a character death. - This will be largely hex/dungeon crawl adventure. I will try to incorporate a decent amount of rp, but expect a lot of exploration, and a decent amount of nitty gritty survival mechanics thrown in. Overall, I expect 60-40 combat/exploration to rp. - Fun fact: This is my 2nd time running this game, the first time we did not get through the entire game sadly. I will probably be running a somewhat modified version of the ToA module. I am cool with you joining if you have played this game with another group, but please don't metagame or spoil anything. - I will allow homebrew within reason, but please run it by me first if you are going to do this. I may not allow everything, but I am flexible overall. - Starting at level 3 with normal starting gear and starting wealth from background. Ok, sorry I know that was a lot.
