Apply Dominant Color From Map Layer Doesn't Always Work

November 09 (1 year ago)

Just curious if any others have experienced this. You put a map in on the map layer and the dominant color shows up beautifully (I really like this - it saves time and generally picks a wonderful color to match the map). You lock your map down, place tokens on GM layer then move on to other things. At game time, when you go back to the map it has lost the dominant color background and is back to white. If you wiggle the map on the map layer and let it touch beyond the grid margins the dominant color will come back but not until you do that. Why is this? Is there some way to do it so the color stays in always?

You can manually set the colour in the map options, but I have noticed that it dynamically resets the colour at strange moments.

I've seen similar misbehavior, but it's not really predictable.

It does seem to use the largest object on the map layer normally as the color source, but sometimes seems to switch if I have a smaller object on that layer selected, and then not revert back after I change layers, until something else triggers it.

And even if you have a single map-filling image, it sometimes reverts to white for no apparent reason.

It's sporadic enough that I've never pinned down anything sufficiently concrete to file a bug report.

While testing it when it came out, I noticed that as well. And since it was auto-enabled for every map in every campaign I had to undo it for every single map manually until I learned there exists a "Game Setting" for that... So disabled it all along... Annoyingly this is AUTO Enabled for every campaign you create...

TL;DR: encountered the same thing but as you wrote, sporadically... And I think I saw comments of this happening in the Announcement Thread for this...

Just wanted to post an update - I started setting the background board color and backdrop color of pages to transparent and it seems to hold the background color much better. Just FYI.
