So, I thought about using a piece of equipment that could be toggled on/ off with zero weight attached to it - I have used this successfully in the past for mods such as an item giving a +2 to AC when equipped etc. Referencing the Wiki ( https://wiki.roll20.net/D%26D_5E_by_Roll20#Mods ) I have added the Melee Attacks -5, Melee Damage +10 to Mods line, but it doesn't seem to make any difference (whereas I can put AC +2 on quite easily)? I read somewhere that the melee weapon then has to be identified as such in Type, which it is when I check its details in the equipment section "Item Type: Melee Weapon" (ie check the sword I am using to test this). Any ideas why this doesn't work as it would seem an easy solution? Does it only apply if you homebrew a weapon, rather than acting as a global mod like AC or Spell Attack +n do? EDIT: NM, it would appear from this https://app.roll20.net/forum/post/5699857/list-of-available-mods-that-work-with-the-5e-oglsheet/?pageforid=5700528 that my final question is right, although you can apply a world of different mods to an entry like this, the attack and damage mods have to be allocated to an item classed as a melee weapon (and thus having its own entry in the Attacks and Spellcasting section). I am devastated and might have to turn to chocolate for consolation, I would have loved that as an option for a pair of gauntlets as toggling one thing on/off is twice as good as toggling an attack and a damage modifier.
