Hello everyone, been playing RPG for a long time (D&D from 1 to 4) plus many many other systems. Currently I am running a once or twice a month Morrow Project Campaign on roll20 (and other systems) for the past 5 years or so but want to try something different and the new edition of D&D is such an improvement over 4th, that I try it out. So I am looking for a group of players that are a bit more older and experienced as well as a Co - GM who can share the campaign (Hord of the Dragon Queen to start). I live in the Pacific Time Zone and looking for a once every two week campaign for 3 to 4 hours (Not sure on time, might be Sundays evenings or other times). Any Interested GM or Players?) Max Party size would be 6 to 7 as one or two will always disappear once the game starts.
I just recently found interest with the 5e starter set (fairly fresh to pen and paper in general) and would like to join as a player if that's cool.
Might be down. I am looking for a change-up from Pathfinder and while my experience with 5E hasn't been great, I'm open-minded. I'm currently a full-time DM, so I do don't mind doing the job, I just don't know 5E well enough to take on a campaign on my own. So if you get a group, I'd help out. Though if possible, I wouldn't mind a chance to play every so often since I never get to. Currently run a game on Tuesdays and Fridays, so other than that I'm good.

Great to hear Askren. I completely understand about the full time DM and part time player thing. After running a campaign for 5 years and over 15 players or so that cycled through it (the joy's of online gaming), it is really nice to be able to play a game every once in a while. I am learning 5th D&D as well, but its a heck of a lot simpler than it used to be. A Co - GM would be great as we can have a character as a NPC and swap when we run. Hopefully not a "red shirt" though. I do have the new Module and so I can always scan a few pages of it to you (as its in mini adventures) for us to trade off if you did not want to buy it. I am thinking that the characters should just use the preset character rules in the Players Handbook and Not Roll as it would be easier to deal with an less chance for different people to have broken characters, but I am open about it. Let me know if something like this could work for you.

Some other things about the campaign: For me personally, I like Combat and Role Playing. With my Morrow Project Campagin ( http://www.henrick.com/ca4 ) - Roll20 Morrow Project Campaign there is actually very little combat while other times they are laying waste to Hoards of Bad Guys. I also like the Idea of players being required to write short "Journals" of the campaign as its a great way to tell a larger story and gives the story an epic feel. Any Players or people who want to co - GM: Last please send me or post a reply to some of the following : 1) Why do you like to play Role Playing Games? 2) What makes a successful party? 3) What really makes your day when it comes to a gaming session? 4) What is a real "Turn off" in a campaign that will make you want to drop?
I would be interested in joining possibly. It would have to be on the weekends or Mondays though because my job has an erratic schedule, but I almost never work Saturday or Sunday and never work Mondays. I've also never played any 5th and only glanced through the Starter Guide so I'm very fresh to the system though have had plenty of experience with other editions of D&D. As for your questions: 1. First off, it is because I am normally a fairly shy person. I avoid social interaction without even giving it much thought. I like being around people, but can't bring myself to talk to them normally. In Role-Playing Games though I am with a group of like-minded individuals which makes it easier to join in and be a part of a conversation and forget my shyness for a few hours. I also enjoy the process of creating a character. Of figuring out their weaknesses, their strengths, their ambitions, their personalities. And then getting the chance to expand upon that as I play the game and seeing how they evolve. Gives me a sense of accomplishment. 2. Trust, pure and simple. The players and the characters have to be able to trust that when it all comes down to it they have each others backs. 3. I'm fairly easy to please. A fun time, good story, if it is a more-combat oriented session then a hard fought battle, maybe a new trinket or weapon to try out. If my character gets a chance to really shine in battle or in roleplay then all the better, but I don't necessarily need that to enjoy the time I spend. 4. Inconsistency of when the game runs, poorly meshed groups, too much interparty conflict (some is fine, just not to the point where it looks like it will devolve into PVP), a really bad story.
Hello, my name is Austin and I would love to be apart of your group. I have a good amount of Roll20 (4months) and rpg experience from 4e(1yr). My only experience with 5e has been through reading the PHB pdf and watching acquisitions incorporated. 1. I love playing rpgs for A the social aspect and comradery, B the fun of the game, C love of fantasy settings, D meeting new people. 2. Everyone being on the same page as to what they want from the game and each other. Game wise I would say the same applies similarly. The group should have common goals or ties to keep everything adhesive. 3. Fun. It could be an awsome roleplay moments bluffing the dragon about your true intentions regarding his hoard or from rolling 3 nat 20's in a row and cleaving said dragon in half. Alternatively is could be the crazy shenanigans the party theif gets them into from trying to pickpocket the register at a magic shop. 4. Members who lack respect for either the game or any of the players. This go from not respecting everyone else's time by being inconsistent or playing your character passive agressively. I would like to point out a possible influence on my availability to play. I can play on Mon, Tue, and Sun. You have posted Sunday evenings pacific time currently. I could only play after 9central/7pacific pm for any length after that. If you have any questions feel free to ask.

Hey Clive, my name is Brian. I just purchased the 5e Player's Handbook for D&D and I've been itching to find a group to play it with. The current group that I typically play tabletop RPGs with is doing a Warhammer 40k campaign, and doesn't have time to add another game during the week. I've ran and played several different tabletop RPGs - D&D 3.5/Pathfinder, Shadowrun, oWod, Dungeon World, and of course as I mentioned above some Warhammer 40k stuff too. I'm available Sun, Tues, Thurs, or Sat. to play in the evenings. I have 8am-9am classes at university (I'm on mountain time) so I would probably need to clock out at midnight or 1am depending on the day. To reply to your questions: 1. RPGs fuel the imagination and allow for interesting and creative thinking. I love the whole theater of the mind aspect of tabletop games. The interactions between characters, and how the story develops is what really make me enjoy playing them. 2. I think when everyone is having fun together as a party (GM included), then that is success in my opinion. That being said it is important to know what everyone wants out of the game and agree on that beforehand. As a side note, I feel it can be difficult (not impossible), depending on character (and player) personalities to fit together parties with good and evil alignments. 3. The answer for me is the same for question #1. The way the story develops from the interactions and epic moments of each session. Examples would be: "Oh man, remember when X managed to do Y!? That was awesome.", "Or, I miss X already...poor sob, may his soul rest in peace." :) 4. Usually people problems. Players (including GMs) that take things personally or aren't acting mature towards others. EDIT: Also, I assumed this much but just to make sure - we're all required to have microphones right?
Hi Clive, I'm Austin, I'm actually Brian's roommate. I started playing Shadowrun way back my freshman year of high school, I'm 26 now. Since then I've played D and D 3.5, Deathwatch, Shadowrun 5.0, Vampire the Masquerade, Werewolf the Apocalypse and I'm currently playing Only War as Brian Mentioned. I'd definitely be interested in playing with you guys Sunday evenings. 1)I've always been a person who's enjoyed creative outlets for my imagination. Fantasy and Sci-Fi have been things I've enjoyed since I was a kid so I naturally tend to gravitate towards those kinds of universes. I love writing and coming up with stories so I sort of view roleplaying as just that: a group of people getting together and coming up with an epic story. 2) I think a successful party is made when people work together and are willing to put aside petty differences to work towards a greater goal, both in and out of character. 3) The moment when your character does something just extraordinarily epic and saves the day for the group or even the group as a whole overcomes something that really put them through the ringer to get it done. I love to see people succeed. 4)Rude players or even an overly mean DM (or GM) are probably my biggest pet peeves. I like struggle and overcoming it, I just don't like it when there's no light at the end of the tunnel, ever. As for the players I'm not a big fan of people who purposefully put the group in harm's way to get a laugh or feel they need to belittle everyone else. That's about it.
Hey Clive, Long time GM looking to take a step back and sit on the other side of the screen. I do want to mention this now, I come as a package deal with my girlfriend (she will be doing her own post). I have previous experience in both running and playing DnD 3.5, and 4th editions, as well as playing 5E. I have ran nWoD games (werewolf, mage, hunter, changeling, vampire) and played in those as well, and have been a player in 5E Shadowrun. Most recently I've been a LONG time GM of Edge of the Empire and Age of Rebellion. I'm hoping to avoid a time conflict, as I am in the EST, but I can make late nights work if need be. Now, onto the questions! 1) Role playing games have been a great escape as high fantasy was something I was interested in as long as I can remember. Family gatherings use to consist of my older cousins playing Magic the Gathering and Dungeons and Dragons (Advanced, I believe) at our Grandparents in the basement and I would sit and watch them all night, fascinated by what they were doing. Growing up I had a strong fondness for any RPG video game I could get my hands on until high school finally got me at the table rolling dice. I've found its a great way to be yourself and have fun with a group of people while having an activity everyone can enjoy. 2) A successful party requires balance, you need a tank a healer and people who can dish out large amounts of damage. But that isn't the only thing that makes a party successful, they can be the oddball party (my current 5E RL group runs with 2 rouges...2! And no healer!) and as long as everyone is having fun I'd consider it a success. Stories where the party was forced to flee from the goblin ambush is sometimes better then "we walked in and slayed them all". Teamwork is the foundation, and fun is the roof, but everyone fills their homes differently. 3) People who can stay in character, drawing back to one of my players during an EotE session they were brilliant as the group was riding a few Bantha's back to town. He had decided instead of letting me give the "alright, you passed the check so now you're back at town" time saver, to instead make a knowledge check and concoct this wonderful tale from "local legend" around the area. This went on for a solid five minutes and was some of the best roleplay I had ever had in a group or from a group. It made me happy to be running the game and made the story better then I could have ever written. 4) Party in-fighting, players who "don't want to do anything", and one-upsmanship. It leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I can get it from a certain character standpoint with the one-upsmanship, to a degree at least, but lethargic players drive me insane when they don't want to advance the story. Failure is advancing, take a risk. Party infighting that results in pvp is also distracting and seems to take away from the adventure at hand, so it makes the pet peeve list too, at least during critical moments. If interested in having myself and SmirkingSpitfire, please message either one of us (or both!) so we can work out the fine details.
Hey Clive. I’m fairly new to the Role play setting compared to most but have had the opportunity to role play with a bunch of people over the last year and half and explored a number of different Rpgs, Edge of the Empire, Age of Rebellion, Force and Destiny being the most prominent however I have had the chance to explore Shadowrun, Mage,Hunter, pathfinder and a little of DnD 3.5. Recently even dipping into the Gm role and running an EOTE campaign myself, as mentioned by Thadin we come as a package deal and hopefully we can both fit in somewhere. I have same kind of schedule as he does but hopefully it won’t be an issue. 1.Why I like Role playing games, I think it’s getting the chance to be someone different, a chance to explore and react in ways that I wouldn’t normally. I enjoy the freedom and narrative way your character can be influenced by the story of others and get lost within some great stories by the Gm too. 2.I believe that a successful party is one where everyone feels like an individual hero but also a part of a bigger picture. We might all have our own unique talents or roles but together we are able to get ourselves out of trouble whether that means slaying them all or running for the hills. 3.I enjoy the natural interaction between characters, seeing the story develop as they grow in the game sometimes even the small conversations between characters can develop into amazing memories or points within the Role-play. I enjoy watching a team develop together each person’s character finding their role within the group and the group melding together. 4.Overbearing/Uninterested Players, I dislike when a player refuses to do anything or seems disinterested in the story/setting and instead of trying to build on the story and develop decides to just step back. I feel it impacts everyone in a negative way and just breaks up the role-play. Other than that being late/ not showing up for sessions. Thanks for taking the time to read and hopefully we will hear from you at some point.

Hello everyone! Sorry about this but real life has more or less forced me to stop this project. Thank you everyone who spent time writing up for this thread but for now I am pulling the project. If I do get some time, I will contact you. Good luck and have a great time gaming!
