Hello and welcome! I’m a junior GM hosting a game of HackMaster 5e, and looking for players with an eagerness to learn the system. If you’re yearning for a new game to try out or just excited to play HackMaster, then look no further! A Quick Rundown on HackMaster… Gritty, medieval fantasy RPG with modern rules steeped in old-school roots Fluid mechanics based on realism and common sense Real benefits and rewards for roleplaying your character No “turns” or “rounds”; encounters are handled in a seconds-based “count-up” system where characters can act simultaneously each second Active defense rolls (no “armor class”) Weighty, deadly, fast, and realistic combat encouraging teamwork and strategy Extensive and detailed character creation and customization that almost guarantees no two characters are ever alike Humble and modest power level with a “zero to hero” philosophy About the Game I’ll be running Frandor’s Keep, a mini-campaign set within the default HackMaster setting, the Kingdoms of Kalamar. The eponymous Keep is a military outpost guarding frontier settlements in the rocky hinterlands of a treacherous mountain range, plugging the traditional invasion route of non-human threats from the trackless mountains into the civilized valleys below. It is a perilous area on the fringes of society, teeming with strange creatures and fraught with danger — the perfect forge for a company of new adventurers to hammer their careers upon. Immersion, exploration, and the opportunity to strike it rich and make a name for yourself (or die trying) are what await the players in Frandor’s Keep! Session scheduling is 6PM to 10PM (Mountain Time) weekly on Friday night, but we could slide those hours up or down or change the day if we can all agree on it. I’m looking for 4-6 players, mostly newcomers but open to veterans as long as they’re patient, preferably around our age group (20-30) but welcome to all. No hate or bigotry tolerated. Communication will be done through voice chat, preferably through Discord or Roll20. Text-based roleplaying might be used between sessions for miscellaneous down-time activities but most if not all gameplay will be done in Roll20. If this catches your interest, please consider reading the game listing! About Me I’m a born-and-raised Texan but recently relocated to Colorado. Though I’m normally shy and awkward at first, I love to goof off and have fun once I’m comfortable, but I also know when to get serious and try to keep things moving for the players. I’m inclusive to all, being LGBT myself, and do not tolerate hate-speech or other such bigotry. I’ve been playing RPGs infrequently for several years but I have a lot of experience with HackMaster. I have limited exposure to GMing; I ran a couple games in the past but they were mostly clown shoes. I’m excited to share my passion for HackMaster and become a better GM in the process. Be sure to check out the game listing! If you’re interested or wish to know more, just reply here or apply in the game listing’s application thread! We already have a handful of players, we could start the game as soon as this week! Thanks for reading!
