Always thought D&D sounded like fun, but only recently decided to start learning how to play. Looking for a one-shot or otherwise short and lighthearted campaign to start off with, and a patient DM as I'm going to need some hand-holding. The first character I've decided to go with is a Dragonborn Ranger whose breath weapon is lightning. He lives with his clan who occupy the stormy tops of a mountain range and spends most of his days hunting. A very important clan tradition is that they all wear an amulet given to them on the day they hatch. The amulets are made mostly of gold (the clan's main crafting material) and must be uniquely hand-crafted by an immediate family member to the hatchling. These amulets can fetch a heafty price on the black market and are highly coveted by theives. So much in fact that the clan has had to resort to extreme measures just to prevent grave robbing. My ranger's story kicks off with him being commissioned by his sister to craft the amulet for her firstborn only to have it mysteriously stolen and now he has a thief to track down before his niece/nephew hatches. Favored terrain: mountain Likely starting equipment: scale mail armor, dagger, handaxe, longbow with quiver of 20 arrows, and probably an explorers pack (maybe dungoneers, depending) I'm perfectly open to making changes if necessary. If this guy sounds like he'd be a good fit for your campaign, do let me know!
