[LFP]D&D 5e][Paid][Homebrew][18+][New Player Friendly] Troubles in the Nardraz: Something Stirs in the Jungle

1706818369

Edited 1707317926
System: Dungeons and Dragons 5e Adventure Description: The communities of the Nardraz Jungle banded together 20 years ago to repel the expansionist Walian Empire. Such unity had never been had amongst the fiercely independent communities. But that was 20 years ago... Tensions between the various factions of the region have been getting a little frayed as of late. No one knows what the source of the tension is, but it’s starting to reach a boiling point and it’s only a matter of time until something snaps. The campaign starts in the small logging town of Beddington during the spring equinox festival. People have come from all over the region to take part in and observe the festivities. Lumberjack competitions in sawing, climbing, log rolling, axe throwing, and all kinds of other activities related to the harvesting of the bounty of the region. The biggest prize, however, goes to the log pulling competition. It’s going to be a party! What could possibly happen that would put a damper on the day? Campaign theme/premise The campaign will start in a small town, dealing with the immediate problems of that small town and then branch out to the larger environment as the PC’s chase down the ultimate source of the problems. The plan is to have the characters and their backstories drive the specifics of the campaign. The campaign is planned to be a mix of all three pillars of play (social, exploration, and combat), with the time spent doing each getting dictated by the actions of the PC’s. The idea is for everyone to have fun, so we’ll spend more time doing the parts that the players want to do. Campaign Duration/Frequency of Sessions/Etc. - Sessions will be weekly, Wednesdays from 7-10 pm (central time). - The campaign will start at level 1 and continue until we reach a satisfying conclusion. The first arc should see characters advance to level 7 or so. - We will use Roll20 for character sheets, maps, etc., Discord will be used for video/audio. Campaign Environment Thabreus is a homebrew world of my own creation. Think Terry Pratchett meets Forgotten Realms level of fantasy. The pantheon is wide open because the gods of Thabreus are powered by belief. If you believe in a deity, it will exist (even if it is very weak because you’re the only one who believes in them). It is a living world, which means your actions (or inaction) have consequences. NPC's keep moving even if you aren't interacting with them. The campaign will take place in the Nardraz region, a tropical rainforest on the equator filled with a bunch of independent towns, settlements, cities, culture, etc. The major city in the area is extremely metropolitan, kind of like if New York City were sitting at the mouth of the Amazon river. This means that all kinds of races show up and are available for PC’s to choose from. DM info: I'm the kind of GM with the primary goal of everyone having a good time. I run character focused and narrative driven stories, and LOVE working with my players to see what kind of hijinks they can get up to. I write most of the adventures and all of the overall campaigns I run so that they can really focus on my players' characters. If you're a new player who wants to experience what a homebrew world can be, or even a grizzled veteran who wants to get away from the typical canned campaign, I'm the DM for you! Collaborative Storytelling: The idea is to tell a story in which everyone contributes. I consider myself a “yes, and” or “no, but” kind of guy. The idea is for everyone to have fun telling a collaborative story, and I’m going to do everything I can to help you do your thing. Player Agency: It is extremely important. The PC's are the main characters, which means your decisions MATTER in terms of what happens in the world and how NPC's view you. I'm not going to force you down a path. Pricing/Scheduling: Session 0 will always be free. Session 0 will cover the basics of the campaign, what you’d like to see, what you’d rather NOT see, and character creation. A detailed outline of Session 0 is available on the Startplaying site. If you find that the campaign isn’t for you during session 0, we’re totally cool with parting ways as friends. We’re all here to have a good time, and that will be our priority. Games will be on Wednesday Evenings, 7 pm central time. This game will require payment to the Game Master at a rate of $15/session via Startplaying.games. Roll20 is not responsible for any payment transactions and cannot enforce any private arrangements. I'm super pumped for this campaign! I'm finalizing some of the encounter maps/locations now, and it's just getting me more and more excited. I can't wait to get this thing rolling!
Hi Dylan - I would be interested in something like this. I am new enough to 5e that I will need help with character creation, but I have been playing 1st edition since the early 80's.
Tim, I love playing with new to 5e players! The first campaign I played in we were ALL new to 5e, but everyone else had played back in the day (and were essentially a group of military vets), so it was an interesting introduction to D&D:P I'm going to have session 0 next week (Wednesday, 7 pm central). The good news is that 5e is really user-friendly in terms of character creation. As soon as you sign up on the StartPlaying page, you'll get the links to the discord channel, player primer, etc. Did you have any specific questions about character creation, or did you want to walk through it together? -Dylan
If you've never played 5e before, or you've played 5e but only official modules, come check out what the game can be. Having the storyline of the campaign built around the characters makes for a completely different experience. I'm super pumped for Wednesday to see what kind of material the players give me to work with as we head into the campaign!
Pricing dropped to $$15/session.
We've got two players that have confirmed. I'm willing to start with three if that's what we've got. We're doing session 0 tomorrow (Wednesday, 2/7 @ 7 pm central time). #ItWillBeFun
Who's this, you ask? Why none other than Mirirook, the proprietor of the small sawmill in Beddington. She might be interested if you get your hands on a sample of rare wood.
We've got a party of 4, but there's room for 2 more if you're interested. Currently we have: Mik'Mik, the kobold artificer out to get revenge on those who wiped out his clan; Blithe, our eladrin Oath of Vengeance paladin; Som, the elven wizard on his coming of age quest; Aldirion, the half-elf who escaped being enslaved by orcs and was raised by druids; It's looking like it's going to be a blast of a campaign, and we'd love to have 1 or 2 more to join us in the custom world of Thabreus! Link to the Campaign: https://startplaying.games/adventure/clqr2fip9000c07juddn36wo2
We've got us a rogue now! There's one spot left if you want in. Session 1 is Wednesday, 7 pm central time.
Sadly our rogue has had to leave the party. This means that we now have a spot open! If you're interested in hopping in on the campaign that is tying everyone's backstory to what's going on, hop on in! Session 7 is tonight @ 7 pm central and the party is level 4. We're just starting a dungeon crawl, so it's a pretty good place to hop in. If you have any questions, please drop me a line and I'll be more than happy to work with you to fit your character concept/backstory into the campaign. #ItWillBeFun.
We got us a 6th! If you're super interested in playing this kind of campaign, I'm kicking around the idea of getting another one going on Thursday in the daytime/afternoons (US central time). If that's something you'd be into, get in touch and we'll see what we can do. -DM Dylan
