You play as an adventurer hired to be the secret weapon of an army. You are tasked in eliminating key targets during a pitch battle. However, the enemy has the advantage and victory rest on your hands. Will you succeed or die shamefully? This is a combat centric one shot, with exploration and social encounters taking a supporting role. This one shot is set in my Original D&D 5e setting, Freelancer. Story Prompt: Grand Britannia has invaded Ancien Français! The surprise invasion secured multiple castles, granting the Britannians a crucial foothold. The Sun King of Ancien rallied his banner lords, but lacking the numbers, hired Freelancers to tip the balance to his favor. King Henry of Britannia, undaunted, decided to stand his ground at Argentvale, securing the high ground. Ancien leaders, confident despite terrain and pouring rain, charged the Britannian-held hill. Muddy grounds slowed the charge, allowing King Henry to unleash a devastating arrow volley. The Britannian counteroffensive weakened the Ancien line further. Defeat seemed certain, but the Ancien leaders have one last trump card: the Freelancers. Tasked to eliminate key targets and to assist where ever victory can be wrested from Britannia, they must become the heroes of Argentvale! What to Expect: Players can expect a tense medieval pitch battle between two opposing armies reminiscent of "The Battle of the Bastards (Game of Thrones S6E9)," "Robin Hood (2018)," and "Joan of Arc (1999)." Instead, characters gain 2 additional proficiencies of their choice. They may not choose simple weapons, martial weapons, light armor, medium armor, or heavy armor as proficiencies.
