The problem was continuous for 30-40 minutes - then stopped. I had not tried that, just reloading tab and restarting firefox - both of which cleared issue, but it came back quickly. But then it stopped happening. We noticed before and during issue that Roll20 site seemed slow, though no info on whether that was related. I think the speed issue did clear at same time, so maybe they were related.
