[LFP][LFDM][D&D][5e][West Marches][Living World] Looking for More Players/DMs: New West-Marches server relaunching a new grimdark inspired world. New/Old gamers welcome!

Greetings Adventurers!!! Key Points… Kicking off a new campaign with an existing DM team/players and looking for more players to join in the fun. D&D 5e, Online, Roll20, Discord (text and voice, no video), website. Multi-DM persistent world (West Marches style). Game sessions run approximately 3-4 hours. Game sessions tend to be more exploration/combat/social focused, with very active text RP in the discord server during downtime. You do not need to commit to playing every week. The West Marches format allows for drop-in play. 18+ players only. PG-13 content only. Our community ranges from 20+ year veterans to players for whom this was their very first game. New to D&D? No problem! We love new players and would be thrilled to help you learn the ropes. Greetings! We run a West Marches style D&D Fifth Edition campaign over Discord and Roll20. Over the years we've had a steady group of players and DMs, but we all stepped away form gaming for a few years. Now, the creators of that original server are back with a new relaunch. It’s the perfect time to add some new players. A little background on the game style No Commitment to Play Our DMs schedule sessions on our quests channel in Discord. Quests are open for sign-ups, with priority given to players based on their last play date and character role. Always Have Friends Each play session can feature different characters, chosen from our pool of available players. You’ll team up with characters within your level tier. Gaming Sessions Made Easy Sessions are self-contained adventures—head out from one of our towns, complete a task, and return. This setup lets you settle in, establish a home, and shape your own story. Never Ending Story Players decide where to go and what to do. While there’s no linear plot, our DMs weave interconnected story arcs, providing more content and objectives. Dynamic World Since all player characters spend their downtime in the same area, news spreads about each adventure. This living world ensures that the same evil wizard won’t face defeat by two different groups. A little background on our game We first began in 2019 and ran for almost three years. During that time we logged over 5,875 hours of game play across more than 300 game sessions. The events of that time have directly informed our new server, called Soulforge Adventures, and all those prior hours spent gaming are not lost but instead a part of our new world in some fashion. About the setting In our reimaging of the server we looked at a few different settings, thinking we might just start up fresh. But as we considered what had transpired before, and where we had left it, we compared that to what other settings had to offer - and we found common ground. Settings like Nightfell , and Grim Hollow had much to offer in how they presented their world, but at the same time we didn't want to give up the rich history we already had. So instead of adopting a new setting, we adopted aspects of those settings we liked and re-imagined our current setting.  What was the Sword Coast in the Forgotten Realms, is now the Wraith Coast. The events of the past have led led to where we are now, and new players come in almost 700 years after what had come before. New players need not have been a part of the history, as they enter into the world fresh and unaffected by those events - but it is those events that present the world they find themselves within. While we have many adaptations one worth mentioning is that we don't use XP for leveling - instead we tie level increases to sessions attended. Further, with our extensive discord roleplay and downtime system, it is possible to level up in other ways. What applications are used? We use a series of platforms to organize and run games. The main hub is most definitely our Discord server. This is the home of almost all player conversation, both about the game and just social chatter. This is also the home of our out-of-game RP. It's a fantastic place to find out what is happening in the world and get to know your fellow players - both in character and out. We also run our in-game voice chat through this discord server. Secondly is a 3rd party website we use to track all nature of the world, from history, to factions to your character, shops, maps and eveything you might need. Also important is Roll20. This is the virtual tabletop where games are hosted and run. How are games scheduled/run? This is quite different from a usual home game, where the struggle is finding a time the whole group can play. The general sequence is as follows: A player decides where they want to go/what they want to do, and then looks at the DM calendar to find a DM timeslot that suits their needs. The player contacts the DM via a Discord message to ask them if they are able to run said content at said time. Once the DM gives the thumbs-up, the DM creates an session posting in discord with the game time and the planned adventure synopsis. Other players apply to the game. The DG selects the players from the applicants. We currently have a maximum of four players per game (five with DM permission). Before the game, players ensure they have an up-to-date character sheet exported to the DM's Roll20 lobby. At the scheduled game time, players log in to discord (for voice) and Roll20 (for the tabletop), and we play the game. As an alternative, players can simply apply for a posted game Session in Discord rather than booking their own game.  Player responsibilities A microphone/headset and the ability to use Discord, Roll20, as well as an internet connection that can support voice chat. Abide by the code of conduct (PG-13 content only and other rules regarding harassment, discrimination, etc. Basically boils down to 'don't be a jerk'). Willingness to work with the DMs to create characters that fit within the campaign setting. Interested? If this sounds like something you would be interested in, fantastic!
