Hello, Lets get it out of the way, this is not a Dungeons and Dragons game. I have played lots of Dungeons and Dragons but in my most recent game I wanted something that had a more modern and gritty flavor to it. The system is called City of Mist and it's an indie game that allows you to make characters by bringing figures of legend and mythology into a noir context where they have to balance their supernatural abilities against the need to hold down a day job and solve the mysteries of the city. This means having a character who embodies the myth of Hercules, for instance, and has the attendant strength, but who also literally works in, let's say, the stables taking care of horses and keeping their boss happy. The game has a focus on being "cinematic" and so individual campaigns and cases are thought of as seasons of a television show and the Conservancy just wrapped up their first season. The setting is Scottsdale, Arizona. It is a modern western noir inspired by Coen Brothers movies and Who Framed Roger Rabbit. At present a rebellious teenager who carries the spirit of Oz's Tin Woodsman and a troublemaking reporter inspired by the Boggart are looking to move on to solve further mysteries and take on bigger challenges but scheduling conflicts have thinned the party out and when we hit the resolution of the first case some people moved on. This means that while there is an ongoing setting and two players you would not just get dropped into some unknown half finished dungeon. That's what I would like to invite you to consider. An ongoing, stable game with dedicated players. A responsive setting that helps the characters answer their own mysteries about themselves. An RPG that prioritizes internal conflict and growth in a setting that is more fantastical than it is bogged down in fantasy tropes. If that sounds like a fun time to you then let me know. I can help you set up a character, I have been making and updating the character sheets and I would love to add yours. Rules are available for new players. Everyone is really patient with each other. Game runs on Saturdays at 10 am PST.
