2024 PHB Question (using PHB 2014 characters with 2024 rules)

I'm not sure this is the correct forum, but here goes.  I'm watching some of the D&D folks talk about the 2024 Players Handbook, and Crawford says that it's designed to be able to play current 5e characters (2014 PHB) alongside characters created and played in the 2024 rules.  Coolcoolcool.   My question (and I kinda think I know the answer) is will Roll20 have a "convert your 5e PC to a 2024D&D PC" button/function, or would we need to manually update the things that change? I realize this question may be not "officially" answerable, but it's worth asking.
that's gonna be on the DM if they own a copy of the 2024 rulebook on Roll20 most likely to make a conversion or having to create a "new game" with the new character sheet meant for 2024 rules and transmogify everything over to it.

Hi Eponymous! My understanding is that you will be able to convert your current campaign to the new character sheet, but that there will be no rules-level conversion. I.e. it won't change a 2014 character to a 2024 version, just put the 2014 character onto the new sheet. Mechanically, it should work, but if you want to have a character built using the 2024 character building rules, you will need to do that manually. Again, my understanding. But the official sheet feedback thread would be the best place to seek an authoritative answer.

It's about how roll20 character sheets will work in an edition upgrade. The forum is specifically for roll20 questions, not for rules of specific systems, but this is definitely a roll20 question.
