I can't get these buttons to go away. I already set "See and Hear" to none in the options.

The main control to turn off Video/Voice is on the GM side of things. Have your GM turn it off if your group is not using it. The GM can do this by going to My Settings tab then Audio & Video then set Chat Tech to "None (no video/audio)"
