[LFP] Looking for Player, Dark Fantasy Adventure, seeking Veteran Roleplayers (18+ Mature Content)

Hello everyone, I'll be straight up and note that this is a promoter account (given how politically charged some individuals are, I do not wish to be harassed by anyone that might seek to make inference about my personal character due to the fact that this world has things such as slavery in some places.) I'm an experienced GM with probably 2000+ hours running and building these games for the past 10 years, with hundreds (if not a couple of thousand) dollars spent in high fidelity tokens and maps, and lots of experience with everything from Warhammer 40k to Forgotten Realms, Atomic Highway, Savage Worlds. You name it, I've probably done it. I've got a professional artist behind me that helps me develop visual assets for what I couldn't purchase on Roll20. The quality of the experience, I promise, is unparalleled. I am looking for experienced roleplayers, though mature would suffice. We've currently got a group, but I am looking to expand our party slightly for another to join in on this highly curated and professional quality experience. Really, I should charge, but I honestly couldn't fathom the idea of locking these stories behind a paywall. I do it for the love of the game and the stories we can create together, and I want to bring you the best damn roleplaying experience you've ever had. The current story is a few hundred years after a world-ending cataclysmic event brought about by an extraplanar threat. This is a world where the Gods are real, though they do not usually directly interfere in the affairs or mortal. After the world was nearly destroyed, city-states and kingdoms have started to rebuild, but many swathes of land are deadly and filled with leftovers from that dark time. More has been lost and forgotten than whatever is known at this point, but without a world ending threat, the world has started to recover and people have begun to go out and rediscover what was lost. The Adventure is this: The time -period is roughly 1530 , for IRL Analogue . While some nations still exist , consider that the majority of them have fractured and there are very few large kingdoms like there used to be in the prior to the apocalypse . Though our adventures may vary , we will be starting in the former Kingdom of Heide . The tone is of course going to be a little bit lighter - but it's not a comedy . We are going to be playing in the Dutchy of Rivalin, on the Chalk Coast, as seen on the map , an Independent City -State , known for piracy , roguery , tomfoolery , and crime . In the border zones between these city -states , warlord territories , petty kingdoms , and actual states , no law exists and chaos reigns . The world is very much filled with monsters still . They could be from anywhere conceivable in the world . Our story ? A wealthy patron is interested in reclaiming family lands . To that end , not only are these lands contested , they are infested with all of the deep and dark things among other challengers . Not only are the lands in the hands of a belligerant Dwarven Clan, the Grand Duke of Rivalin has his own expectations regarding this expedition. Announcement has went far and wide through the ports of the world that a massive sum of gold will be paid to all who volunteer to fight to achieve this end . So you come to Breistoc , seeking fortune and glory. There are a couple of things I'm looking for in our players. -Fine with a homebrewed system. We work off a simplified version of Warhammer 4E. -Fine with Original Lore and World. We have a detailed and comprehensive wiki detailing everything from the history of the world to the nature of the divine. (If you want a sneak peek, go to https://vala.fandom.com/wiki/Realms_of_Vala_Wiki ) -Apolitical. I don't want people bringing the culture wars to my game. -I do not want a "Dice Roller", "Loot Goblin", or "Murderhobo" if you're interest in this game for loot or levels, it is the wrong game for you. What you will get is a highly interactive and detailed story in an original world, from our custom made maps and tokens to the use of voicemod by the GM and other participants (optional to new players, but you must be willing to be in character on voice as needed) to further enhance the experience. -Ability to work within the parameters of the setting. You will not be porting over a character from D&D, your character will conform to the world as it is. -You must be fine with real world content and an attempt at plausibility. This is not a world like Baldur's Gate where everyone is fine with every race, and people have interchangeable ethnicities. The world has it's own nations and people all with thousands of years of history, and they have their own identities accordingly. Just the same, people will respond accordingly. Dwarves will likely have a problem with your race if you are not a dwarf. There is slavery. This is not a "Whitewashed" world that's a blank slate for adventures, it exists to tell mature stories for mature individuals. -Ability to accept the brutal nature of the Dark Fantasy setting. There are things like slavery, for example- I do not care how it isn't accepted in the real world, I do not support slavery myself; but this is a fictional, fantasy setting. -I would prefer anyone over age 25, but I would be willing to accept 18+. This isn't a game for kids, but expect that all potential applicants will need to be comfortable with voice roleplay and will need to be vetted by myself via discord. -The game is 12:30/1:00 PM Eastern Standard Time on Saturdays. Expect it to last until 3:30-5:00PM. If this game interests you, please message me here or send me a direct message and I will be happy to speak to you further.
I'm somewhat curious, but I would also like to first start off with a question: How does one even make a character with this warhammer system, and what is/isn't allowed race wise?
Hello! Thanks for the interest. I'd recommend shooting a DM with a Discord for quicker conversation. To make a long story short, it's a Warhammer System with an entirely homebrewed world (see Wiki). Any of the mortal races are allowed, though we have a somewhat realistic bend on it. You'd need to be able to explain where your character was from if they weren't local to the area. For example, the Hesha, the lizard people, live in the south, where it's warm. The cold season of Heide (where the story takes place) can easily be lethal to one who was unprepared more so than the others, so they'd generally need a reason to have travelled that far north. In addition, the races we do have available (also on the wiki) do have certain expectations of them. If you're interested I'd happily go over them with you to see what would vibe best. Far as making a character? First, you can roll randomly for a variety of info (class, background, special bond in the world, etc) for up to 40% bonus XP. But we're having a pretty generous experienced start to begin with due to the nature of the story. If you didn't do that, you've got ten characteristics and usually 2d10+20 to roll the values. I don't like seeing people get cut off at the knees with bad rolls, so I'm usually pretty lenient and let people roll twice and take better. After that, you spend your experience and creation points however you like and job is done. One thing I will note is that this creation system is slightly simplified (don't look up the original- you'll give yourself a headache). Other than that, your class does not have "Levels". 1, 2, 3, 4, etc. Instead, you have ranks. For example, a soldier might be. Rank 1: Recruit Rank 2: Soldier Rank 3: Sergeant Rank 4: Officer These usually come with some benefits, such as higher status in society or free hirelings. Advancement depends on allocation of XP into class skills and talents (AKA abilities), and finally, the purchase of any talent from the next rank after this has been done. So trying to "Level Up" right away might not always be the best idea for a character who you want to live a long and healthy life, I encourage experience spending according to the character you are trying to portray.
