The Tsar has fallen victim to a terrorist attack by a radical group, and the regime is trying to stop the nation from tearing itself apart. At the height of the turmoil, an ominous figure appears at Moscow University with a harrowing account of the heavens in flames, the screams of animals, a scene of annihilation, and, at its center, an artifact of unknown origin. Most intriguing of all, they exhibit abilities that neither magic nor science can explain. Abilities that, if attained, may change the course of the war. However, revolutionaries have infiltrated the University and are determined to claim the artifact for themselves. Lore #1: The Revolutionary War Russia is in turmoil. Ever since the assassination of Tsar Alexander II, the empire has been embroiled in a revolutionary war. The Narodnaya Volya (the People's Will), a radical socialist organization, heads the revolution. In the early stages of the conflict, they managed to take over key industrial centers, dealing a massive blow to the Tsarist regime. However, thanks to the quick response of the Okhrana (the Guard), the secret police, Moscow was mostly spared from the initial attacks.    As Alexander III was elevated to Tsar, he wasted no time in projecting his autocratic powers. Areas still under the regime were put under strict martial law, and the Okhrana was given more authority to enfroce these laws.    Within a year, the Tsarists managed to reclaim the industrial centers, forcing the Narodniks to retreat into the countryside or mount desperate last stands in the few remaining urban holdouts. Due to the power imbalance in terms of military training and equipment, they began relying on sabotage and terror tactics- a strategy that the army was inexperienced in handling.    As the anniversary of the revolutionary war draws closer, an equilibrium of sorts has been achieved. Distant cities and swaths of the counryside are under revolutionary control, while developed urban areas and powerful country estates remain loyal to the Tsarists. Neither side can project power over the other, and the war has turned into a deadly staring contest. Blink and you will lose.
