ON THE NATURE OF EVIL AND OTHER STUFF On another board, I read about someone applying to a Way of the Wicked campaign with a sociopathic psion who used his mind control powers to commit rape. Don't be that guy. Yes, this is an evil campaign. However, it's intended for villains, not mere monsters. Think Maleficent, Sephiroth, Winnowill, Prince Gaynor the Damned, Raistlin Majere, Thulsa Doom, Sandor Clegane. Not Patrick Bateman. While some incidences of torture, genocide, and other potentially triggery events may occur during this campaign, we will handle them via "fade to black" wherever possible. On the flip side, please no "I was unjustly accused" or "Sure I do bad things, but it's in service of the greater good" characters. You are a criminal, you are unredeemable, and you richly deserve the punishment you have coming (assuming you fail to escape Branderscar). PLAYING WELL WITH OTHERS One problem with evil campaigns is that they have a tendency to degenerate into PVP. I'd prefer to avoid this. Some degree of backbiting and plotting is natural, and hopefully everyone who applies will be mature enough to understand this -- although be careful when heading in that direction. As you may have noticed, it's easy for people to overreact online. In this campaign, for the most part you'll be working as part of an evil conspiracy, which means being able to work together and take orders. Characters who can't do that aren't going to last long. So make sure your character can work in a group -- no "chaotic evil" need apply. Don't create a character who expects everyone to grovel before her, because the other PCs won't. Don't create someone who's totally selfish and just waiting for a chance to steal everyone's stuff and run away. And please don't create a "lone wolf" who constantly wanders off on his own and needs to be pushed to do anything with the group. You don't have to be one big happy family, but try at least to be functional.
