The Fallen Kingdom of Vynloria Snowcapped peaks and a threatening, unnatural storm can be seen easily by most any ship that braves the serpent-plagued waters of Vynloria. Ships rarely make the voyage to this dangerous corner of the world; the combination of danger and the isolated nature of the far-flung archipelago makes even the bravest travelers think twice before risking the journey. However, this wasn’t always the case, as tales of the power and arcane secrets of Vynloria have drawn curious seekers from all over Aethrin for centuries. Less than a century ago the Kingdom of Vynloria was arguably the strongest military power on the face of Aethrin, but much has changed since the calamity sometimes referred to as the Undoing broke the kingdom. Vynloria now stands a divided husk of its former glory, what once was the proud pinnacle of arcane might is now leaderless and falling to pieces. Its once faithful citizens now turn upon each other in a bloody struggle for power, while its once proud Mageknights stand idle and leaderless in undeath, or worse, they lose themselves to the contagion of chaos that is the ambition of would-be kings and queens. Vynloria is held captive by the contagion of chaos that is the ambition of would-be kings and queens, but they say with chaos comes opportunity. The opportunity to become rich and powerful. The opportunity to help the less fortunate and make the world a better place. The opportunity to become a lord and rule with an iron fist. Perhaps even the opportunity to reunite Vynloria under your banner. What will you seek in this land of chaos and opportunity? This Campaign has multiple groups playing through it and competing to shape the fate of Vynloria simultaneously. Though it may not happen, there will be the possibility of competing against the other groups in a Game of Thrones-style struggle for power. In general, my style lends itself to the sandbox style of play, and this game will be no exception. There will of course be narrative arcs, and I will incorporate character backgrounds into the story where possible. The campaign will also have the possibility of kingdom-building and warfare in the future. Campaign length may vary, but we will start looking for a stopping point after several months, though it could go over a year. After that, the characters will settle into their chosen activity, but it may be possible to return to them after a time jump, as the overarching campaign will continue. About Me My name is Chris, but feel free to call me Rogue on Discord. I've been a DM for over 25 years. I started playing D&D with 2nd Edition, and I have been enjoying 5th Edition since its release. I like a good mix of roleplay and combat. I enjoy doing voices, but I'm by no means a trained voice actor. Player agency is very important to me, so if the group wants to make a hard right turn and open a charm school, then I’ll run with it. I’ve been doing paid games for about four or five years now, and it’s been a great experience. This game will require payment to the Game Master at a rate of $8 per person for a 3.5 or 4-hour session made through Paypal. Roll20 is not responsible for any payment transactions and cannot enforce any private arrangements. Why Pay for a DM? Finding a good DM can be challenging. Here's what I will provide: - Commitment. Not just from me, paid games have more committed players as well. - Custom Content. - Reliability. I will not miss a session unless there is an emergency, and I will make myself available to you as much as possible. - Knowledge of the rules of 5E. - Experience. A whole lot of D&D over the years, the majority in 3rd and 5th Edition. - Acceptance. Everyone should feel welcome regardless of race, creed, or gender. - Fairness. - Roll20 Pro features. - Music & Ambience. - Preparation. Being compensated allows me to spend extra time making sure I'm as prepared as possible to run your game. Character Creation You'll be creating a 4th level character using Point Buy. 2024 Rules are in effect for character creation. The vast majority of official book material is ok for use, but there are a couple of subclasses I have minor issues with - but we can find a way to make them work. Speak to me first before choosing an evil alignment (or chaotic neutral for that matter). These alignments are possible, I just want to avoid unnecessary PvP situations within the party in general. You start with your class starting wealth plus 500 gold pieces. You may spend it on item normal items or items from this list: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1tmp249zcc5r-Yh88OgY8700GcNyvHCtRCGUZ8uHIClY/edit?usp=sharing Homebrew Content I’ve modified a few game rules (some are optional), spells, and feats, which can be found here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1h5RXucBLODGRUMM0OXPTd4OWANM9qOaZ1EMdnLZSHR0/edit?usp=sharing In addition, there will be changes to many monsters. Especially when it comes to Vulnerabilities, Resistances, and Weaknesses. Weapon materials that bypass physical damage Resistance from monster type include Silvered/Silversteel, Cold Iron, and Adamantine.
