For about a year now, I've been running a small homebrew Call of Cthulhu game. It just uses the system and rules, the setting is original, a mix of fantasy/sci-fi and is a sandbox/open world. The general vibe is a pseudo-Victorian feel, with some cozy and exploratory elements with more common characters. There is some back lore of linked worlds and those coming from various worlds to live in the setting, so there is some anachronism with some of the characters with gadgets, relics or tech they may run across. To quote the game in a nutshell, someone described it as "X-Files mixed with Red Dead Redemption/Walking Dead." Awhile back I had a player drop playing a notable character that the party liked (they had a legitimate IRL workload that no longer allowed them to play). While it was a pregen with attached lore and such, the player dynamics was great and I would've liked to join them back to the party as a character, rather than an NPC. The character did progress skill-wise, so they've developed a bit; so you'll be picking up a character that's already been around the block. Part of the reason is this game is supposed to be developed into a small-scale podcast, and I would like to keep the core character cast in some fashion. Also the character also was their go-to sneaker/rogue type, so while they've gotten by, the group's been bad at hiding, scouting or climbing. Game time is weekly to bi-weekly Tuesdays at 9PM EST, sometimes at 9:30PMEST depending on my IRL work. We usually stop at 11-11:30PM, rarely going over midnight; I try to keep play sessions about two hours. Some notes: This is not an insanity-inducing, gritty and bloody CoC game. This is very much a more comfortable, exploring game with some whimsical and lighter-toned elements. This game is recorded to be made into a podcast down the line. We don't do video, just audio only. It's for fun and everyone is credited, but be aware about that aspect of the game. Because of above, please have a good headset and/or microphone. Voice is by Discord, and played in Roll20. We're here to have fun, and focus more on RP at times. Show up and be friendly, and you'll be fine. We're pretty easygoing! Combat is occasional, sometimes required but not always. Think of games as a 90's point and click adventure game. Death is a low risk, and really only a possibility if you repeatedly roll bad or intentionally going into harm's way. The Character in Question Amanda's a girl living in the community that the players are currently exploring. She's an out-of-towner, coming from a London-like city where her father is an archaeologist and studies relics from the Northern Kingdom. She inherits some of his curiosity, often wandering around and getting the lay of the land in her new home. She excels at finding her way around, staying hidden and scaling obstacles. - Amanda, 10 Mainland Native, Neighborhood Explorer Attacks: Physical attacks (1d3-1) 25%, Slingshot (1d4) 40% 9 HP, 60 Luck, 60 Sanity, 0 Magic, 0 Armor, 9 Movement Focus Skills: Climb 62%, Jump 43%, Listen 55%, Psychology 30%, Sleight of Hand 60%, Slingshot 40%, Spot Hidden 53%, Stealth 58%, Personal Skills: Fast Talk 25%, Navigate 30%, Obscure Glyphs 40%, Track 30% Special: Cat Fall, Pocket Hoarder, Hide On the Spot, Small Size More detailed info can be found in the game listing Your Sidekicks Howard: The newest party addition, this young fellow works a daily job at a furniture factory. He's been shoved into this paranormal investigation business involuntarily, but has grown to be an able-bodied sidekick that's a smooth talker if needed. He's pretty handy at repairs and carpentry, while being one of the better shots in the party. Lindsey: A waitress turned bartender to owning her own establishment, Lindsey's got strength and can pack a punch if needed. She usually serves as the party's muscle, wielding intimidation or good STR rolls. She often works in tandem with her adopted nephew, who helps her with more of the smarts-related parts of their adventuring. While often a klutz when it comes to DEX-related matters, this cancan-dancing redhead is invaluable to the party, puns included. Natalie: An old woman who's a farmer's wife, Natalie's got some good insights on the world around her. Despite the age showing through her stats, she often pulls clutch with the party when figuring out lore or puzzles. She's a skilled baker, often having something that gives a bonus or helps regain HP at times. Don't let the low movement or hoopskirt fool you; she not only can bring a point-blank shotgun to bear, but her Grandma Sense comes in very handy in detecting danger! Regina: Often serving as the party's face, Regina's a wandering folk storyteller that's seen more than one realm. Despite her background she's quite brave, and usually serves as the group's leader. She's the party's dedicated spellcaster, focusing on support magic with a good background in Magical Knowledge. She's trained in the art of magical clogging, which she uses to cast or enhance her spells. When all else fails, there's a Colt Peacemaker handy if need be. - If this interests you in any way, please reach out. I'll answer any questions as able. Game Listing
