5e 2014 Charactermancer Starting Equipment Missing

1728702513

Edited 1728721110
After creating a new character in the charactermancer, weapons, armor, and tools selected on the equipment page of the charactermancer are not added to the sheet.  I run a lot of one-shots and have been hearing this from almost every player in every game.  I created a few new games to try to find a solution, and found it's the case for both legacy and jumpgate games.  I've only tried it with the 2014 sheets, since that's what I use.     I tried opening the charactermancer again, making changes, apply.  Still, nothing.

Hi Hojou,  The Bug Report forum is primarily for users helping users. I suggest filing a report with the Devs via the Help Center  as based on your report this appears to be widespread.

So the bug report forum isn't for bug reports?  Makes sense. ;) Anyone else heard of this, or know of a work-around?  Looking for a user to help a user.

Hi Hojou! I cannot replicate this issue. Can you provide more information? If it does turn out to be an actual glitch in the charactermancer, that will indeed require a  Help Center Request  to create a ticket. Some background on the forum name: Back when Roll20 was much, much smaller, it was possible for the dev team or a Roll20 employee to read, follow, and respond to bug reports in the forums. Things have changed, in addition to the forums, Roll20 now has many other social media sources through which user communication exists: X(Twitter), Reddit, Discord, etc. There is no feasible way for one person to read all of those (Though Gauss comes pretty darn close, and he isn't even employed by Roll20!), and the fact exists that social media is horrible for tracking bugs. Then the pandemic hit and the user base skyrocketed. Moderators and forum champs were encouraged to tell users to use the help center, and the help center was designed to tie into the issue ticketing system. This actually creates a token (ticket) that is persistent, available, filterable, categorizable and so forth. The existing bug forum was changed into a user help forum (though devs still curate the feedback threads they start, at least for features under active development. We have petitioned them to change the name of the forum, but they are either loath to do so or there is a technical issue that makes this problematic. So the name remains.

Thanks for the explanation about the forum.  I've already submitted a bug report.  As for the the problem, I can't speak for what platforms my players are using, but I assume it's a range of browsers with a variety of extensions enabled, since it's happening to virtually everyone.  I've seen it with every character I create -- in my current games, new games, legacy and jumpgate, using chrome, firefox, and opera. At first I thought it might be because they are mostly copies of an older game, so maybe there was some glitch from all the recent updates -- but it happens with new games as well.   So, I did a bunch of testing with a second account, and found that everything works fine until I share the 2014 PHB to the game when using the 2014 roll20 sheet.   Go figure. I tried various combinations of sharing (2024 SRD, XGE, SCAG, 2014 PHB, 2014 SRD).  Everything works fine, no matter what combination of sources I share, until I share the 2014 PHB.  Even all by itself, the bug exists when using the 2014 PHB with the 2014 Roll20 sheet. I tried using the 2024 sheet (yuck) sharing only the 2014 phb, and found that the bug doesn't exist, but there are other options it asks me to select without any content available. What is Roll20's bug-finder reward program?  I spent a bunch of my free time trouble-shooting their product for them, and isolating the issue.  I don't expect to be paid for the QC I did for them, but it's pretty standard practice these days to offer some kind of bug-bounty.  ;)

Hmm, since I can't replicate it, maybe the Help Center Request will shed some light.

Hi there, I am able to reproduce this issue.  Every character made in my game does not begin with their starting equipment. Just as a heads up.
