S095_News_Years_Evil_II Recap January 1, 2019 9:30AM A team of three SAT agents arrive at the base. Investigator Winston wants to question Paladin and the Brigade. A PART monitoring station recorded the destruction of the helicopter and intercepted telemetry from the doomed aircraft. A wave of magnetic energy washed over it halting it in midair. Then the magnetic force crushed the aircraft to about one third of its size. The wreckage was then dropped into the bay. Some of the easily named suspects are Magneto, Neutron, Gaussian, Polaris, and Doctor Polaris. Magneto has not been seen since the Exodus. Neutron is in Ryker’s after being sent there by the Brooklyn Brigade, Gaussian (member of the terrorist group Corrupters of All) is at large, Polaris (Magneto’s daughter?) is not a criminal per se but her location is unknown, and Doctor Polaris is also unaccounted for since the Exodus. Winston wants to know if the Brigade knows of others who need to be added to the list and if they have any additional information on the five noted suspects. The Governor-Elect was not on the helicopter when it was attacked. Just before it left for Liberty Island Endicott was whisked away for an urgent but indeterminate reason. The pilot and two of the Governor’s security staff were killed in the attack. Paladin wants to know why Endicott was removed from the flight. Winston does not know specifically. Paladin asks about Endicott’s enemies but Winston is unable to give him a list. In fact the tells Paladin that anyone who listens to the Governor-Elect winds up agreeing with him, even his most ardent detractors. Paladin states that Endicott must be a metahuman. Winston practically flies into a rage at his suggestion. The Governor (he was sworn in at a private location after the attack) is just very persuasive. He tells Paladin that the Governor is on his way to Albany to have a meeting with the heads of NYPART, SATNY, Silver Avenger Richardson (New York PRIMUS) and a member of the Department of Superhuman and Paranormal Affairs (DOSP, a federal agency). He tells Paladin that if the Brigade does not want to help the Governor they can stay in the Bunker and spin their wheels. We know where to find you if you need you. Paladin then calls Lt. House. House has limited ability to help or even provide answers. The jurisdiction is above his head, his office is limited to the city of New York. Paladin suggests going after the black box of the helicopter. House can’t authorize that but he does tell Paladin if he goes after the box sometimes it is better to ask for forgiveness instead of permission. If the group does get the box he asks that it be brough to him so his techs can analyze its contents. Paladin reviews some of Endicott’s campaign promises: Endicott’s platform of selling convicted felons into slavery for the duration of their sentences, encouraging couples to get married and having the male spouse support his family, extending suffrage only to those who own land, among other radical ideas has caught fire with the citizens of New York. His plank for restoring constitutional era values is sweeping like wildfire. He wants metahumans registered and sterilized, he says only land owners should be allowed to vote, woman should be the family caregivers leaving war and politics to men, and in accordance to the 13th amendment slavery is permissible as punishment for crime. His platform of reestablishing slavery, purging the world of Super Powered Beings, and tearing down women rights mysteriously has found fertile ground with voters across racial, financial, and gender divisions. In addition to statewide metahuman registration and compulsory sterilization he announced a budgetary policy where prisoners would be leased to public as slaves. The 13th amendment of the Constitution makes slavery illegal except in the case as punishment for crime. By leasing criminals for the duration of their sentences prison over crowding would be solved and the money generated would fund tax relief and several social programs. The APP’s (American People's Party) stanch anti-SPB (Super Powered Being) Endicott is claiming that God himself is responsible for the Exodus. It was his undeniable will that wiped the world clean of the plague of super beings. He left a few behind so that the righteous could prove their worth by finishing the work He began. When Endicott was questioned about the return of Superman as the Eradicator he said only that it was proof that Satan was continuing to defy God’s will, that Satan returned The Eradicator to Earth. It is only a matter of time before the world is purified of all SPBs, that Satan’s minions will be cast into the pit, for all time! <resume here> January 1, 2019 11:00AM Revenant hops on his bike and heads toward the Hudson River while Paladin is flying there. Froggie takes a car with the hearter turned all the way up. They are on the shore. Paladin is going to fly Revenant to the search area and then join him in the swim to find the wreckage. Paladin avoids the search boats and flies close to the water. They reach the search area without being seen. The water here is about 90 feet deep. Froggie is hanging out in the car so he is with here. After 30 minutes of searching they find the remains of the helicopter. It has been crushed into a ball. They find the helicopter in the silt at the bottom of the river. When Paladin and Revenant find the helicopter with no reason the five surface craft move to intercept the heroes. They are to intercept the 'bogies' with extreme prejudice. Froggy and Tuna hear on the police radio that the police are heading for a boggie detected under water. They start to pull the metal apart looking for the black box. The stupid thing is being elusive. The heroes hear the boats above them and bodies hit the water. The Paladin swims off leaving Revenant to turn invisible and watch the divers. Froggie sees four of the boats marked NYPD and the fifth is PART. The five divers center at the helicopter but seem more interested in what is around the wreck. They start a search pattern moving from the wreck and out. After swimming out about 50 yards from the wreck they abandon the search. A pair of them go to the surface and get cables from the boats to do rescue operation. Paladin and Revenant get back to where they left the van. Froggie and Tuna moved to the 478 bridge. When Paladin and Revenant return to the searchers. Forggie hands them hot soup. They find news footage that show the magnetic waves came from lower Manhattan. They try to eliminate suspects based on power and accuracy and are only able to eliminate Neutron by this method. They track down what information they can about Polaris and Doctor Polaris. Neither has been seen since the Exodus. They find that Polaris is was a long time member of the Mutant Rights Advocate group. They find a section of central Manahattan that had brief power loss and computers needed to be reset. They track the amount of damage to try to isolate where the attack possible originated. Revenant break off from main investigator to look into the cyber-ninjas that hacked up the ATF. Paladin and Froggie: This find the source of the disturbance oringated near 840 5 th Ave. They peel back the layers and are not making much progress. They check the equipment connections and don't see any signs that the satelite dishes have ben tampered with. The pair see a car with two people watching the Hellfire Club across the street watching the place. Paladin and Froggie go to talk to the police. They approach blantly and knock on the window. They say they have been here since noon investigating a robbery. Paladin asks if they saw anyone with green hair enter the building. They have for the moment exhauted their leads. Revenant and Tuna: Tina wants to know what the Surenos connection to the cigarettes smuggling was but they were just hired muscle. The FBI lead is Rueben Ayers. Ayers agrees to see them at Royal Burgers, best burgers in the district. He is sitting at a table in the back. They tell him that the person responible is whoever hired the Surenos. They say that 'Red-Tie Guy' was the source of the problem. Ayers wants a recording of Red-Tie Guy talking about the cigarettes. They ask if Deathblade is a meta. Deathblade is an agent for the Tsukihama-gumi clan. Ayers is sending a team to Shogun Nakazowa to bring Red-Tie Guy in for questioning. Unfortunately Shogun Nakazowa is closed in observnace of the New Year. Ayers will put a couple guys watching the sushi place in case Deathblade shos up anyway. Revenance goes shopping in the area near Shogun Nakazowa in case he is needed. Big Tuna also finds a way to be near the Sushi bar in case Deathblade shows up. Wedneday January 2, 2019 Revenant continues to shop while Tuna is in a van nearby. Froggie goes to the offices of the Mutant Rights Advocacy Group. Paladin will be in the general area of the sushi bar. 1PM The FBI take Kyoji Tsurimatsu (Deathblade) into custody without incident. Lt. House will contact the group with news that a suspected terrorist known as Magnatron travelling under the name James Drew came into New York from California. Magnatron is a suspected terrorist working for the Metahuman Liberation Movement, a group on the NSA terror watch list, came in on a commerical airline. House mentions that if MLM did this for pay the Hellfire Club could definitely afford it. 2PM Andrew Rufus comes to get the answer for the Brooklyn Brigade rejoinng the company. Paladin tells him that he is not interested in rejoining the Prometheus Group. Andrew Rufus is disappointed and says that if they change their minds they are welcome to call him and they can talk. As he is leaving he asks if the group has seen Cassandra Clemons since they parted from Prometheus? Her trial for the murder of her brother begins on the 8 th . More charges relating to the death of their parents might still be forthcoming. He claims the police have asked him about her whereabouts but he hasen't heard from her. After she made bail she vanished and since Rufus has control of the Clemons forturne he is suspected of giving her aid. At the offices of the Metahuman Right Advocacy Group the lady at the table does not know Polaris or Lora Dane. She tries to recruit them to join the protest of Keith Armbruster giving support against Governor Endicott. Meanwhile in Albany violence breaks out between members of the MLM who were also protesting Keith Armbruster giving help to Governor Endicott. It is iimportant not to confuse the MLM and the MRA with each other. MLM are terrorist, the MRA are the good guys. Revenant prepares for his appearance in front of the Grand Jury concening Kyoji Tsurimatsu (Deathblade). Thursday January 3, 2019 While the rest of the East coast (as far South as Virginia) is suffering from temperatures that average 28 degrees (F) below zero a 10 mile diameter zone (roughly centered around the Empire State building) is very warm. In fact is a balmy 68 degrees (F). The edge of the zone is very well defined, crossing it and temperatures drop 80 degrees to match the rest of the country being hit by the Polar Vortex. The people inside the area want to thank and praise whatever hero is shiedling them from the bitter cold. In times past they would expect it to be the Fantastick Four, The Avengers, or maybe even the Justice League but so far there is no one taking credit for the warmth.
