It's almost 2025. We should be able to bolden text in our character sheet.

Like the title says, we should be able to bolden text in our character sheet . Kind of like how I JUST  DID!!! The thing about character sheets is that they contain a lot of information. Though some is more important than other. I'm going to use the Darkvision trait from D&D as an example. "Darkvision. You have Darkvision with a range of 60 feet." There are three key bits of information here; T he traits name , the type of vision and its range . But as the new 2024 sheet has  light gray text on a  dark gray background, you have to focus on what you're looking for. It would greatly help if you were able to embolden parts of your text to make it " pop ". The trait form earlier could look more like this " Darkvision. You have Darkvision with a range of 60 feet . " Now the tool bar I see as I'm writing this would be too cumbersome to add to all test fields, but these styles all have well known shortcuts that could be used in the background. Ctrl+B ,  Ctrl+I and  Ctrl+U , for example.  If that is too difficult to implement,  (which it isn't)  one could simply allow asterisks ( * ) turn text *Italic* or **Bold** like how the textchat already works. Please , this one feature would make finding what I'm looking for so much easier .

Hi TerraEternal,  This seems like a post meant for the Roll20 Devs rather than the community. If that is your intent the best places to reach the Devs are via the Help Center  (link is already set to the feedback form) or via the Dev curated thread on the D&D 5e 2024 character sheet .

This is possible to add to sheets built with beacon (e.g. d&d 2024), although I don't know if any sheet has added it yet.

This post might be underestimating how mauch effort is required to change the style of something. When you set something bold here , the forum devs have estimated that that is something people want to do, and have figured out how to program it. It isn't something that just happens - someone had to work on that. It's the same with roll20 character sheets. There might be a lot of ways someone wants to change the appearance of a sheet. But someone has to realise what effects they are and then create those effects, and just getting the sheet working is itself already an ordeal. So people generally don't do this: It's very complex.
It’s complex because of the old architecture Roll20 is built upon.  This will be an ongoing issue with this platform.  Get used to it.

It's more than just old architecture. It's also a matter of data efficiency and compatibility. Converting a character sheet to contain styled HTML increases the file size, makes using numerical data more difficult to parse and can lead to display issues if pasting styled text in from an external editor. It would also complicate some cases of mod script writing. The Bio and GM notes fields can handle it, but they are built differently, accessed differently, and used for a different purpose. It's not simply flipping a switch that says "allow styled text". That being said, for fields which output text to a roll template (such as a spell description), you can use Markdown. It will look like markdown in the sheet, but will be displayed as styled when sent to the chat panel.
