Dynamic Lighting Question... Lava Light.

Hey guys! I just upgraded for my first campaign to unlock those awesome dynamic lighting features. Ive played around with it and have plenty of luck so far - until I decided I wanted to use a map with lava on it. The lava has a glow to it - and would illuminate at least a little bit so I figured it would be a cool effect to give it a red aura and a bit of lighting past that. The only way I would think that would be possible is by creating a see through polygon token and giving it those attributes... Thus far.. Ive been unable to do that.. But because I'm very new I figured I'd ask before giving up on the quest for lava light! Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated! Chris

Hi chris. You are on the right path. Try giving dynamic light to your transparent token and have it display an aura that is tinted red. Play around and see if that helps. Someone with more experience with this will be by sooner or later.

No, but you can use a png and pad it with transparency where needed.

A type of image file format. GIF, JPG, PNG, RAW, BMP, etc etc Unlike JPG, PNG format can have transparencies.

Unfortunately the real answer is that you want to be able to create an object and set it as 'self illuminated'. That would mean that it shows up with full lit intensity whether it is lit or not. This is not currently an option, however (maybe something to add to the wishlist?). This kind of thing is used fairly often in 3D rendering for objects that are suppose to be glowing and emitting light (there are some other things that are done as well but those could probably be handled by the artist when the asset is created).
