Returning to Campaign after Holiday break, why are all my rolls in whisper to GM now?

January 14 (1 month ago)

So my group went on break for the holidays and now coming back to our D&D5e Chains of Asmodeus campaign I find that all my rolls as DM are being sent as whispers to me. I don't mind that for some things, but in combat and such I typically like to have most of my rolls visible to my players for various reasons (like them knowing I'm not fudging the results and such if things are going bad for them). On top of all that even though I have The Advantage Toggle feature turned on for the sheet and such everything is happening with advantage even when it shouldn't and there is no toggle visible anymore. I can't find a single reason why suddenly this is happening and don't see where any feature from changes on roll20 should have caused this and how to change it all back. Does anyone know what's up, or is this a legit bug or something that has broken my game?

Hi Huntress!

No idea why this would happen either, but it should be reversible. Assuming this is the D&D 5e (2014) Sheet, set those settings on the Campaign Defaults page, and then Apply Defaults (last section in the right hand settings tab) once you are in game. Make sure to wait for the narrow, easy-to-miss progress bar to complete.

Hi Huntress,

If Keith's steps do not work for you there may be a bug involved. In that case please send me an invite so I can test to see which bug it might be. Then I can show you how to remedy it.

Okay, so I figured out that what ever bug this is is restricted to all the NPC sheets that were created/added by the roll20 Chains of Asmodeus game module I used in creating the campaign. I am able to manually get the Advantage toggle back on them, but for some reason even when I select for the rolls to be public for these NPCs they all still go to me in whisper. NPC's I create myself, however, all are acting normally with the rolls.

So any thoughts on what's going on with the NPC's sheets from the Chains of Asmodeus module so I can fix what's bugging them?

Not without looking at them. Please send me an invite to your game so I can take a look at the sheet(s).

I have limited time in the week to be able to do things because of work, I can send you a invite in PM to my campaign on Friday and work with you during the weekend on the issue if that works out.

Updating for anyone following:
Huntress had run Apply Default Settings multiple times. I also observed this via a shared screen and the process was correct (no user errors).

The problem turned out to be the duplicate "wtype" (an attribute) bug which is a known bug that can occur when using Apply Default Settings.
When wtype has multiple copies on a character the sheet does not know which one is the correct one so it can pull from an incorrect setting.

Rather than go through each individual character to delete duplicate wtype attributes the Devs were kind enough to upgrade Huntress to a temporary Pro account so that we can run a script. After running the SheetDefaults script the problem should now be resolved.

Thanks to Miles for the upgrade and to timmaugh for being kind enough to create the script for this specific issue.
