Compendium Not Working - Stuck on "Searching"

I looked through the help forums and couldn't find anything useful to deal with this issue. Last Friday, I had no problems with it, but today when I logged into both of my games (one as GM, one as a player), I was unable to get anything to show up from the compendium. I have the Monster Manual, Volo's, and Mordenkainen's, and I've never had issues with anything from any of them before not showing up before, but now I am.

As per recommendations, I cleared the cache and browsing history, rebooted, tried using both Chrome and Edge, and nothing has helped. It doesn't matter what I'm searching for - the compendium page does not go beyond "searching". Any thoughts?


Update: Using my Android device, I'm able to get access to the compendium. It's my Windows computer that's having the trouble (on all browsers). Clearing the cache and deleting browser history has had no effect on this issue.

Hi Shades911!

Since you have done the most common diagnostics, the best next step would be to collect a Console Log (Chrome, Firefox) at the time of the issue and file a Help Center Request.

As I'm having similar issues I thought I'd add to this post with my problem and what I have tried to resolve it.


Firstly up until Sunday my games - all 5th ed 2014 - were all working fine, but when I logged in on Sunday I encountered the following issues:

  • The old compendium refuses to search and hangs whenever I search for anything
  • The new compendium works fine for searching, but only a very few tokens will drag and drop - I've been through most of the monster starting with A and the only ones that will drag and drop are Acolyte, Acolyte of Dispater and Allosaurus


Things I have tried:

  • using different browsers - the issue persists across all browsers I have tried
  • switching between new and old compendiums - see above for results
  • creating new 5th ed 2014 games using both jumpgate and legacy settings - the issues listed above persist
  • checking old games that I am not currently using - the above issues persist
  • disabling all browser extensions - no change to the above issues

As far as I am aware, I have made no changes to the default settings, except as noted above, and I am struggling to understand what is causing these issues.

Thanks for all the details, I'm having trouble recreating the issue on my end. As mentioned above if you can both submit a Help Center Request with console logs and a link to the campaigns where you're having the issues that'd be great.

I had already submitted a ticket 289818. I have now updated this with the console output.

Hey guys. This is a Legacy game, but the issue eventually went away after several reboots. Not sure what's going on, but it seems to be working for now.

Unfortunately I am still having the issue when trying to search the compendium.

I have updated the ticket with some extra info, which I will also put in this post in the hope that someone, somewhere might have a suggestion to try and resolve this!

  • The issue persists across all games whether I am logged in as GM or player
  • Other players in games where I have this issue do not have the same problem
  • The charactermancer for 5E also does not work properly for me - lots of selection options are just missing - eg no option to select a bloodline for sorceror, no spells available in the mancer, etc
  • Also the problem briefly resolved itself on Sunday, but then reappeared when I logged on on Monday

Based on this it looks like it is something to do with the way my PC is setup - I suspect that somehow my link to the 5E compendium on my account is not working properly - however I have not changed anything at my end.

 

Any thoughts on what I can change/try to resolve this please?
