In the Spring of AD 1197 a coterie of neonate Vampires is gathered in the shadow of Buda Castle at the shore of the Rive Danube and sent on a mission deep into the Carpathian mountains. This thrusts them right into an ongoing war between the ancient rulers of this land, the Voivodes of Clan Tzimisce, and the Ursurper Clan of the infamous sorcerer Tremere who have stolen immortality from the Fiends. It is a troublesome time, the age of Rome seems in a final decline with its last remnant, Constantinople, under constant threat from the Seljuk Empire to the East and the rising power of Venice in the West. Transylvania itself is being colonized and brought screaming and kicking out of a dark pagan age into a modern Christian Europe, with the knights of Clan Ventrue from the German Empire assisting their Hungary kin in this transformation. The campaign will allow players to take their young vampires from these dark and tense beginnings through the fall of the Byzantine Empire, the Mongol Invasion, the fires of the Inquisition, the Anarch Revolt and the formation of the Camarilla and the Sabbat, through 800 years all the way to our modern nights. They will get a chance to build their own domain in the heart of Transylvania, investigate the magical secrets of the land that has led to the three-sided conflict between Tzimisce, Tremere and Ventrue, and has shaped the fates of so many other Clans, and to play a major role in many of the most important events of mortal and Cainite history. Players can be members of any Clan (though some will fit in easier than others, and some will face harder roads through the centuries) and most Bloodlines. We use the Dark Ages Vampire V20 rules for the first half of the campaign, and Vampire: The Masquerade (V20) rules for the second half. Roll20 will be used for character sheets, dice, maps, handouts, etc., and discord for the Audio Chat.
