Legend of the Five Rings Interest Check...

Howdy all! I've had a hankering for some big damn samurai action lately and I wanted to see if anyone else might feel the same way. The game would be on Fridays at 6pm EST (or there abouts) and we'll be using the 3rd edition rules. Nothing against 4th ed., I just don't have any of those books. The setting is a modified version of the Heroes of Rokugan alt setting, I'll go into more details if/when it looks like the game 'll take off. Veteran samurai and those who have yet to go through their gempukku are both welcome. Abayo!
Sounds really interesting, I would love to join if you can get the game going. This would be my first time playing the L5R system though I am always willing to learn and do research on my own time if we can get a game going!
I'd love to play, though I'm fairly new to Legend of the Five Rings. About the 4th Edition books: They're very awesomely done in every way, though I don't know the previous editions to compare. That'd be my problem, I have the 4th Edition not the previous one or any modified alternate settings. On the other hand, I think I saw a list of mechanical changes from previous editions in the opening chapter of the core book, so it might be a bridgeable gap. I'd love to play a Scorpion Clan Bushi who struggles between the role his Clan embraced and a secret desire to adhere to a more honorable way of following the Code. Some important questions about the group: Are you looking to do the game Text-based or Voice-required? I can't do voice/mic, unfortunately. What is the range of ages you'd be looking to play with? Personally, I prefer to stick with 18+
Mike, L5R uses an exploding d10 system that's pretty easy to learn. You roll X number of dice and keep Y number of dice while trying to meet or beat a target number. Easy peasy =) Tal, yeah the 4th ed books look great I just haven't had the opportunity to read any of the new system info, and your character concept sounds awesome. Unfortunately I am requiring voice chat-ability (I generally use Hangout), I've tried to play in a few text based games and they're just too slow for me to stick with. I'll save you a spot if you can do voice later on. As for age I don't really have a preference. I've gamed with 14 year olds that were more mature than guys who'd been playing since AD&D, so I judge it on a case by case basis.
Fair enough, I downloaded the L5R book as well and started reading the rules and doing character creation so yea if you can just find a few more people I'd be ready to go.
By all that is holy, I would be interested in playing this game. I love the game, have the books, even run it myself.
Cool beans! It looks like we've got two interested, if we can pick up one or two more we'll be set. I've listed the game in the LfG under L5R: The Way of Honor. Can't believe that roll20 doesn't have any L5R settings. Very sad.
Legend of the Five Rings is probably my absolute favourite TTRPG to play both as GM and PC - as one who has read almost all books in third and fourth edition, I do strongly advice you to consider looking into fourth, though. I've more or less moved over completely to fourth myself, and going back would be returning to contradictions, misprints and the like for me, unfortunately. If you ever change it to fourth, I would very much like to join your group.
