RULES AND GUIDELINES FOR "A NEW ERA" The 5e Greyhawk Campaign (Updated 6-4-15) General Rules / Guidelines: When you see PAUSE, stop typing and wait. UNPAUSE resumes where you left off. Be careful. 5e is pretty unforgiving! Don't get upset if your character dies, since all my rolls will be done in the open (no fudging...) Combat: Combat takes a significantly different approach than the rest of the game. Roleplay comes second. Don't start your turn roleplaying your turn... it takes too long and bogs down the game, thanks to HP bloat in enemies as levels progress. Don't: Bob draws his sword, grinning maniacally at his enemy. He pushes forward, lifting his weapon high above his head and then bringing it down upon the man. ([[1d20+4]] to hit, [[1d6+4]] damage.) Do: Bob: move here attack [hits macro] Bob: done However, roleplaying the after-effects when it's not your turn is fine -- and encouraged. Just so long as it's not during your turn. Adding: After slashing his enemy, and seeing the blood pour from his newly-formed wounds, Bob grins. is fine. Campaign Specific: If you're unfamiliar with Greyhawk, that's okay. However if you want to learn more about the setting (which stops at roughly 598CY), there's several wikis and the " Living Greyhawk Gazetteer ," the latter of which condenses the whole continent into one book. The 2e supplement is good as well. Since 600-700 CY hasn't really been discussed in depth, a lot of this is going to be homebrew. Expect wars from the '90s to be over, enemies turned allies, etc. Keep an eye on the Obsidian Portal wiki to keep up to date with the homebrew aspects of this particular Greyhawk World. Sessions: Sessions will generally take place on Fridays, 8:00 PM EST. They generally last 3-4 hours. If you're unable to attend a session, please try to notify me a few days in advance. The XP based system that is used over CR allows for encounters based on party level/amount of PCs. I can adjust encounters accordingly, especially when given a few days notice. If I can't make a session, I'll let you know as well.
