A bunch of my uploaded images (maps, etc) are gone

Today a bunch of my maps are mysteriously gone. Their names remain in my library with a generic broken image icon. The images won't load and many of my maps are now white screens with just dynamic lighting walls but no image. What happened? It's a lot, like 50+ gone. Should I re-upload everything? It's lot of work :(

Hi dirty h.,  If you did not delete them I would contact Roll20 via the Help Center . They may be able to recover them.
Thanks I'll try
Hi there! We'll keep an eye out for that ticket -- in the meantime if you are running into image issues it may help to also try these steps: Refresh your browser window Clear your browser cache and restart your device Flush your DNS cache We had a recent image servicing change which shouldn't affect most users. However depending on certain timelines it's possible you could run into issues loading images. Ideally the above should help clear out any remaining errors. If this doesn't help, please make sure to let us know via that support ticket!

Thanks, I tried it, but it didn't work. I've tried multiple browsers as well. I think the issue may be server-side
I checked a legacy copy of the game, and it has the images that are missing in my latest version - but they are all low-resolution, blurry versions

dirty h. said: I checked a legacy copy of the game, and it has the images that are missing in my latest version - but they are all low-resolution, blurry versions Unless this is due to only seeing cached image data from missing images, sub-par image quality on map images can often be fixed by zooming all the way out and then back in. Longer explanation: Roll20 converts every uploaded graphic into 4 versions at different resolutions (only your upload is counted for quota). This allows the VTT to serve the most efficient size for your zoom level. Sometimes the system "forgets" which image to serve. Zoomin all the way out and back in can often force it to refresh and pick up the correct resolution.

Thanks but this isn't the problem, as I'm not using the legacy version. I just checked it to see if it had anything different. As I've explained, the problem is that files that I meticulously prepared disappeared from Roll20's archive, requiring me to re-upload everything and re-create a ton of maps. It's a lot of work, just to re-do things already done. You'd expect the site to not have your files randomly disappear, considering it's a subscription service, the main point of which is that you can store more data. Frankly this is completely unacceptable, along with the lack of a proper tech support response offering more than "clear your cache."

Clearing your cache is often a first step in troubleshooting an issue for browsers. It resolves many issues as caches can become corrupted.  But that does not mean that is the end of the troubleshooting, it is just one step in the process. The next step is you inform folks that it didn't work (you did that) and then the Devs make another suggestion or take a deeper look.

You could also file a  Help Center Request , (it sounds like you might have done so already), which would create an actual ticket. Issues are rarely tracked through the forum, since they are too easily misplaced or overlooked. The Ticket is a token that has to be resolved, one way or another. Most forum help is community based. Regarding legacy, The first sentence I posted (about cached data not immediately disappearing) was a possibility of why you were seeing images in the Legacy game. Since they come from a different URL, your browser might still have them in its image cache. Assuming both games were viewed on the same browser, and you flushed the cache as suggested, the fact that you saw any images at all (blurry or not) suggests that they are still in your Art Library somewhere. Without actually putting hands on your computer we (I.e. Gauss and I, as Forum Champions) can't do much more than ask questions and make suggestions. The help center ticket will get a dev who can actually look into the Library, the game, check Amazon Web Services (the host), and much more.
